Why long distance relationships at all?
With modern technology, the truth about our world becoming smaller is more correct today than in the past. It has provided numerous opportunities for individuals to have a complete global experience in any career field that they wish.
When you first started the relationship you did not think about being apart. No one can foresee what may happen at any given point in time, but the majority of us only look through our short term lenses. Many couples think that the long distance relationship is going to be easy. The couples realize that they have the unbreakable bonds that they have built up over the months or years to result in a positive outcome for this. However, when the time comes, and weeks and months go by the couples will feel the strain of living apart from one another. The result is usually a breakup. It’s not that long distance relationships cannot be done but the strain on the couples usually results in this being the outcome. There are some things that you and your partner can do to help maintain the long distance relationship. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Tips to survive long distance relationship
Communicate – The number one way to survive a long distance relationship is to communicate regularly. Talk many times a day through email, text, online video, messenger or any other communications you can. The more you talk through these various means the more you keep the lines of communication open for each other.
Visit regularly – When in a long distance relationship, you need to take the time to visit each other regularly. It is crucial for the couple to be physically close every few months or so they can maintain the intimacy in their relationship. It also provides a sense of the relationship continuing to grow stronger overtime. Once visiting is not even an option any longer then it will start to deteriorate the relationship from that point onward.
Do things together – One thing about being in a long distance relationship is that you have to be creative. For example, schedule time for both of you to go and see a movie that you both have wanted to see. Once done you have something new and exciting to talk about with your partner. This helps with keeping the feeling of closeness, as well, as an interesting twist to your relationship
Keep problems aside – With distance, there is going to be strain. However, with the ability of individuals to be able to keep open and honest with one another this will diminish. Set aside differences, and not fight if possible. This way you can take advantage of the opportunity to grow closer with one another during our transition.
Be positive – There is so much negativity in the world, do not bring this with you into your long distance relationship. Keep things on a positive tone so that you can maintain a level head and enjoy the brief communications and time you have together to the fullest.
