[THIS IS LONGER THAN USUAL TO TRY AND MAKE IT UP TO YOU FOR BEING INACTIVE]
You thought that everything was going well, you were in a happy relationship, you were getting good grades, everything was perfect. So why is it that you're sat all alone, at the edge of a cliff looking out to the rough waters below you?
Earlier
School had just finished and you were waiting outside Alex's class waiting for him to leave so that you could walk with him to his car. The door opened and the hallway began to swarm with students. That's when you noticed the bleach blonde hair that belonged to the one and only Alex Standall, aka, your boyfriend. Alex was taller than most boys his age and you could spot him from a mile away. He turned his head enough to see you before continuing to walk in the opposite direction."Alex?" You shouted to try and get his attention. It wasn't any use. You ran up to him before giving him a gentle tug on his arm. You could feel him tense up at your touch.
"Yeah?" He sighed whilst rubbing the back of his neck.
"Walk with me?" You asked gently. He took a deep breath before nodding his head. You studied him closely. Alex wasn't always the person that would tell you how he felt, often leaving you to guess if he was okay or not. He had the same eyes just without the tiny specks of happiness you could easily read, his bags were darker than usual and his lips were constantly in a firm line. You sighed before lacing your fingers with his. Yet again he hesitated before joining the small amount of safety you shared. Well that's where you felt safe..until you got inside of Alex's car. He hadn't started the engine and had instead started playing with his fingers. This was a habit of Alex's you had finally began to notice. You felt a knot begin to form in your stomach as your eyes never left his saddened ones.
"Y/N..." he sighed. He looked you straight in the eyes before saying the words that had broken you."It's not working out.. I just...don't love you anymore." He paused,
"It's over" he said calmly. You knew it wouldn't last forever, but deep down you had that small amount of hope that maybe it would. Your lips began to quiver and your vision blurred. You wouldn't let Alex see you like this. He had to know that you could cope on your own. You shook your head before wiping the tears that spilled on your cheeks discreetly. He rested his hand on your thigh before you flinched and shifted out of his grasp. He frowned before finally speaking up.
"Say something" he whispered.
"Okay" you bluntly replied.
"Wh-Okay?" He asked, sounding baffled by your stubborn answer.
"Yeah."
"That's it?"
"What's left to say?" You replied looking out of your window. You couldn't look him in the eyes, you knew that would only break you. Alex turned away before twisting the key, making the engine roar. He reversed out of the school parking lot and drove you home. No words were shared in the car, Alex hadn't expected you to beg for him back but he hoped there may had been a few tears, a hint of sadness maybe.. a sign that you loved him. He finally pulled into your drive way before you grabbed your bag and opened the door. You didn't hesitate to instantly climb out of the car and slam the door, you walked up to your house without even looking back. You entered your house and soon slammed the door shut, as you did in Alex's car. You immediately ran up to your room and locked your door. Your put your music on and looked in your mirror. You sighed and looked at yourself from different angles, immediately beginning to frown. 'Of course Alex would leave me' you thought to yourself. "I'm not like the other girls, I thought that's why he liked me, maybe he wanted me because I was 'easy'"You rolled the sleeves of your hoodie up to reveal your healing scars. You'd been clean ever since you and Alex had been together, he brought you nothing but happiness, he had shown you a side to life that you never thought existed. You took your index finger and began to trace over the scars reminding you of a time you wished you had forgotten. Of course you hadn't told Alex about your depression, let alone that he was your cure. As far as he knew, you were a happy teenager that enjoyed listening to music, going shopping and giving hugs. You wouldn't cut into your skin, not now, not ever. You didn't need something to cause more pain, you just needed the pain to stop.
