Samridh took a breath.

"Jab sab bhede idhar udhar bhaagne lagi...tab budhe siyaar ne unhe rokte hue kaha ki darne ki koi baat nahi hai...ab bhediya 'sant bhediya' ban gaya hai. Ve kisi ko bhi haani nahi pahuchayenge. Sab bhede shaant ho gayi. Tab siyaar ne bhedo ko bataya ki sant bhediya ab satya aur ahimsa ke maarg par chal rahe hai. Ve apne dushkarmo ke liye atyant lajjit hai. Unhone jo bhed jaati tatha anya chote praaniyon ko bhootkaal mein jo haani pahuchayi hai uske liye ve bahut sharminda hai. Ab unhone apna jeevan sabki seva mein arpit kar diya tha. Usne uddharan dete hue kahan ki subah ke samay  sant bhediya ko bhedh ka ek bacha mila tha. Vah bahut pidit tha...uske payr mein ek kaanta fasa hua tha...usse sant bhediya ne apne daaton se nikal feka...parantu ghor peeda ke karan uss bache ki maut ho gayi...tab sant bhediye ne uska vidhipurvak dahasanskaar kar diya.

"Aise kar- kar ke boodha siyaar, uske rangey hue siyaar aur bhediye ne bhedo ko pagal bana diya. Ab kaise unhone bhedo ke saath jhoote vaade kiya yeh mein nahi bata raha...I'm too lazy...par end mein bhedo tatha anya chote jaanwaro ne bhediye ko vote dekar jeeta diya.  Phir bhediyo ne aisa kanoon banaya ki subah unhe ek choti bhed naaste ke samay bheji jaayegi, dopahar ko ek puri bhed bheji jaayegi aur raat ko swaasth ke anusaar kam khana chahiye isliye ek aadhi bhed bheji jaayegi."

"What the heck?!" Bandana laughed. Everyone else was quiet. Looking at everyone's serious faces Bandana shut her mouth.

"Look I haven't told you all the story in detail...par mujhe lagta hai tum log samjh gaye hoge ki mein kya kehna chahta hun..." Samridh looked towards everyone. Randhir was slightly nodding his head. Devaki was in a little daze.

The city lights sparkled through the window. One could make out the slight sea breeze that was gently passing through the palm trees outside. Pedestrians were walking on the sidewalk carrying on about their own businesses. The Kababs were heating over the coal. Devaki picked up a kabab and put it in her mouth.

"Toh tum Amit ko bhediya bula rahe ho...boodha siyaar unke party ke senior log aur rangey siyaar Aarushi aur Sumedh...?" Randhir summed up. Samridhi was amused by Randhir's quick understanding. He quirked his eyebrows.

"You're smart." Samridh noted. Randhir mouth twitched into a slight smile.

"This is so apt." Devaki said. Bandana stared at all of them.

"You guys are crazy, you'll know that? This makes zero sense." Bandana stated.

"Yehi toh politics hai, Bandana." Samridh said picking up another kabab and putting it in his mouth.

"How...?" Bandana wondered.

"Dekho, Amit realised ki woh iss baar ghaate mein hai. Uski party ke senior members ne kuch naya socha. Tumhe kya lagta hai unki party ki jo pehli Women's Wing ki leader thi..unki death kaise hui?" Samridh asked.

"Woh jo Aarushi ke pehle thi?" Devaki asked. Samridh nodded.

"Cardiac Arrest." Randhir answered instead of Bandana. Samridh smirked.

"Do you really think so?" The smirk was glued on Samridh's face like bubblegum. Realization washed over Randhir's face.

"No...no...no...you're joking, right?" Randhir laughed.

"Absolutely not." Samridh joined him in laughter. Soon, Devaki too, chuckled. Bandana looked at all of them dumbfounded.

"Umm...what is the joke again?" She asked.

"You missed the joke like an idiot misses the point!" Devaki laughed.

"What?" Bandana frowned.

"There's no actual joke. Bas hassee isliye aa rahi hai ki unke party members ne khud hi apne colleague ki jaan le li." Randhir explained.

"Excuse me, par kya meine 'khud hi apne colleague ki jaan le li' suna?" Bandana couldn't believe her ears. She seemed so surprised. Samridh looked at her.

"Itni shock mein kyun ho? This is politics. Yeh sabh cheeze bahut common hai." He said. Bandana blinked twice. She started praying to God.

"So as I was saying, they needed new faces. Sumedh new face nahi hai...but he is very popular otherwise. Unke match ka forward position Aarushi ne play kiya aur Sumedh ne defender. Amit ne iss baar elections mein zyaada kuch kiya nahi....didn't you guys notice that? Mujhe toh tabhi doubt ho raha tha...In dono ke alava, inki party se bahut log elections ladh rahe the...in logon ne har kism ke logon ko ticket de di..." Samridh said.

"Wait. Coming back to the story. Agar hakikat mein waise hua hai then how do you explain the last part of the story? Amit ki government ne abhi tak koi aisa law nahi banaya hai jisse naagriko ko apne decision par pachtana padhe..." Bandana said.

"Woh bhi ho jayega jald. You just wait and watch." It seemed as though Samridh had double meaning to this statement. Bandana ignored the knots that were forming in her stomach.

"This is ridiculous. Woh log bahut ache hai. Tum sab galat soch rahe ho unke baare mein. Mujhe tumse yeh umeed nahi thi, MRS. MAHAJAN." Bandana said venomously looking at Devaki. Devaki widened her eyes.

"Bandana, suno-" Devaki started to say but Bandana just grabbed her stuff and got up. Samridh got startled.

"Baby-"

"Have a wonderful evening." Bandana  made a sarcastic remark and walked out of the restaurant. Randhir rose his eyebrows.

"Yeh kya tha?" He asked. Samridh sighed.

"Aaj bahut mehnat karni padegi yaar." Samridh huffed. Devaki looked at Bandana's disappearing figure.

"Isse un logon se itna lagav kyun hai?" Devaki asked.

                           **********

"Yudhveer! Tum aise toys kyun laate ho yaar?!" Sameeksha screeched. Yudhveer looked at the clown which was fallen outside the packet on the floor. He frowned.

"Par meine koi clown nahi khareeda...yeh kahan se aa gaya?" He wondered.

"Tum kya bol rahe ho?" Sumedh asked.

"Haan yaar, mujhe pata hai Sam ko clowns se bahut darr lagta hai...isliye mein sapne mein bhi clown na khareedun...phir yeh kaha se aa gaya?" Yudhveer scratched his head.

Sameeksha rolled her eyes.

"Galti se aa gaya hoga." Amit said sitting down on the sofa.

"Isse abhi issi waqt jaakar bahar dustbin mein fek kar aao, Veer." Sam ordered. Yudhveer nodded. He picked up the clown which was lying on the floor. He looked at the dark beads of eyes on his face. He seemed to be mesmerized for a moment.

"Veer?" He heard Sam's voice. He shook his head. "Haan sorry, jaa raha hun." He said. He went outside his house and discarded the clown in the bin. He came back inside the house. He had a feeling that someone was watching him. The hair on the back of his neck stood up and a chill passed down his spine. He tried to let go of the feeling and smiled looking at Sam playing with their daughter as the others looked on.

"Meri choti si Tara  badi hokar sabko maar daalegi na?" Sameeksha said. Yudhveer's heart stopped.
