Liam slung the bag and placed it on the opposite side of the couch. He sighed, exasperated from the day-even if it was just summer and school hasn't even started yet. After fetching a drink from the fridge, he slumped onto the couch, turning the T.V. on to a Friends rerun.

As he continued to watch, Liam pretended to not take notice of Zayn's sudden appearance in the living room. It is normal, or it used to be. Liam and Zayn would would watch shows on the couch and have simple conversations until Perrie would get back from God knows where. Then Zayn was gone.

Liam ignored it further as Zayn sat beside of his bag, merely feet away from him. Liam especially did not notice as Zayn gradually scooted closer throughout the duration of the episode.

"Are you quite done trying to be sneaky?" He asked aloud, finally showing Zayn the attention he, oh so desperately, wanted. Zayn only grins at him, taking his place at Liam's side, touching only at the shoulders.

The way that Zayn looked at him that one day entered Liam's mind and he shrugged it off, refusing to think of the heat that he was getting from Zayn. Silence dawned between them, comfortable and unsettling at the same time. It was hard to focus with the boy who almost kissed him right next to him. Liam shifted awkwardly to not touch Zayn's shoulder, but Zayn gave him a look and simply wrapped his arm around Liam's body.

"Soooo Liam," and that stupid grin, "are you a contract? Because I think I should be writing me all over you." Liam snorted in response, flipping him off.

"I could do that too, if you wanted."

"How is Perrie? You know, my sister?" Liam responded, a little snappy in his tone. He knew he should've pushed Zayn away minutes ago. His sister's boyfriend is hitting on him for God's sake.

"Oh she's fine. I can say the same about you." Zayn smirks and Liam hates that he feels the urge to react. He hates that the cheesy, sexual comments are getting to him.

"Can you stop hitting on me for one minute? God, you're supposed to be dating my sister." Zayn puts his hands up in mock defeat. "Alright, alright. How was your day?" Liam rolls his eyes and begin talking about his day, starting from Harry's relationship with Louis to him swimming over at Cher's.  Zayn stared him into his eyes the entire time and it made Liam feel uneasy, but continued with his story.

"So yeah, there's my boring day for you. How was-"

"Do you remember when we was younger? We used to be in the same classes together, especially in middle school. You was the cool one-always had the friends. I was that kid who didn't have friends and drew in the middle of class." And Liam remembers. He remembers asking to see one of Zayn's drawings, but Zayn gave him the whole drawing instead. He remembers putting it in a box in his closet but never opening it again.

"Now look at you. The roles have changed, Mr. Bad Boy. Now I am the kid no one notices because my sister is dating the hottest guy or whatnot." Liam rolls his eyes playfully.

"So you do think I'm hot, yeah?" Zayn raises an eyebrow, amused, and Liam flushes.

"I never said that-I meant that-ugh." He puts his head in his hands as the other boy laughs.

"It's okay to think that. I think you're quite fit too, man." Liam has become suddenly aware of how close they are at this point, nearly sitting on one another in the maddening conversation. His eyes become wide and his tone defensive.

"Don't say that! You're dating my sister, for bloody sakes." Zayn shrugs in admittance and Liam pushes himself away-not because he can feel the boy everywhere or anything. Arms still wrapped around his shoulders, but he didn't force them away.

"I remember that day I gave you that drawing. It was Batman and you asked if you could see it. But I thought you would make a sick Batman or something, so I just gave you it instead. You smiled at me real big but then your friends called you back over and you left me there. It's okay though because I had this small crush on you then. You was just nice to everyone."

"I'm sorry I didn't talk to you more."

"It's fine, babe. I still got to know you afterwards, even if it did come through your sister." They stared at each other for a few seconds, and the air became thick.  Their faces were close and then Zayn was gripping his face and pulling him closer. Liam could feel Zayn's breath as he exhaled and he was frozen. Frozen in some moment that he could not escape from.

"Is it okay if I try something?" Liam had no idea what to do, but he didn't have time to do  before Zayn swooped in, running his lips across his cheek towards his mouth. Liam tightened his grip on Zayn's shirt, which he didn't even notice he had. Zayn was almost to his mouth and Liam was trying to tell himself to push the boy away. That he had to. He didn't.

But Zayn pulled away for him and another smirk rested upon his face.

"You would've let me."

"What?" Liam sounded like he had been proper kissed and without air. He didn't though, but something was going on with heart rate and he feels like he can still feel Zayn's mouth running along his face.

"You would've let me kiss you. You like me, too."

"I don't like you! You caught me off guard. " But Zayn was still smirking and Liam is cursing himself in his head.

"I bet if I did again, you still wouldn't moved." Tongue pressed to teeth, Zayn smiles and Liam hates that he takes special notice in it.

"No I wouldn't have!" He feels hot all over and he doesn't know if it is because he's slightly turned on or it's because he's made. Zayn comes in real close, noses touching but nothing more. If either of them moved any, they would be kissing.

"Then why aren't you doing anything?" Zayn smells like mint and cigarettes, both signatures of his hobbies of chewing gum and smoking. It's intoxicating, swirling and fuzzing his brain.

Liam gets up, using the last amount of control he has, grabs his bag, and leaves the living room. He isn't followed and he breathes easier once he enters his room. Flopping himself on the couch, he texts Harry for a little bit, but when Harry messages that his phone is getting ready to die, he stops replying.

Liam tries hard not to think about the almost kiss. He really does. He doesn't think about the softness of lips grazing to his mouth or the way Zayn licks his lips when he looks at him-which he just now thought of and he is an idiot for now noticing it. Liam tries not to think about kissing him because it is wrong. And it is.

But all of it runs through his mind and he hates himself for it. He truly does.

Zayn likes him or simply loves fucking with him, and Liam hates that he will evidently give in-

because he knows, like every other girl in school, that the boy is to die for.
