Guilty, guilty, guilty.

Those words bounced off the walls of a small fourth-grade classroom. Kids fingers outstretched, eyes staring accusingly at a young boy. Phoenix.

"He did it! He stole the money!" Shouted a girl followed by a chorus of agreement. "Well?" The teacher of the small class started. "Are you going to apologize to Miles for stealing his lunch money?" She asked softly, slowly pacing around Phoenix as though she were a vulture circling its prey. "I didn't do it," Phoenix mumbled almost inaudibly, tears streaming down his face. No one, not one person stood up for him. He couldn't feel any more alone.

The teacher ushered Phoenix closer to Miles who was sitting near him. "Come on now, just say you're sorry." Phoenix faced him and with tears, he muttered, "I'm sorry Miles."
