Lydia might not survive the bite. Lydia, one of the strongest, fearless girls I know, might not survive a bite from an Alpha werewolf.
Sheriff Stilinski walks past us looking like he's on a mission, but instead of letting him do whatever he's meant to be doing, Stiles decides to follow him, obviously dragging me with him.
"Dad!" Stiles shouts.
"Stiles, listen, just go wait with your friends, alright?" I wouldn't call Jackson a friend.
"Dad, tell me. You know this has something to do with Derek." The Sheriff stops walking and turns around to face us.
"But I thought you two said you barely knew him" He whisper-shouts at us.
"We might know him a little better than that." I say carefully. Sheriff Stilinski glares between Stiles and I. This is not going to be good.
"You guys do realise I am elected for this job, right?"
"And if we help you figure this out, you'll be re-elected." Stiles states and I nod my head in agreement. Anything to get out of the Sheriff's bad books.
"You know what? That girl in there has nothing to do with a six year old arson case." Sheriff Stilinski runs his hands over his face, clearly stressed.
"When did you decide it was definitely arson?"
"When we got a key witness." Stilinski starts walking again and Stiles follows, dragging me along again. In a way it is a good thing considering I feel like collapsing right here on the floor. I just don't have the energy. "And, no, I'm not going to tell you who it is, but yeah, we know its arson. And it was probably organised by a young woman. By the way, Claire, are you okay?" Sheriff Stilinski halts again, looking at me with a worried expression. I raise my eyebrows in question. "There's blood all over your neck, head and dress."
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Some of it's not mine anyway. Some if it's Lydia's. I'll heal." I say, adding an innocent smile at the end.
"Wait a second, you were also with Lydia? Did you see anything?"
I hesitate for a second. I can't tell him that it was Peter, a big bad Alpha monster. "U-Umm, no, sorry. I got knocked out pretty early."
"You should probably get checked out. You might have a concussion or something." I nod, even though I know I'm not going to get it checked out, and we all start walking again. It's like we're playing follow the leader.
"Dad, what young woman?" Stiles interrupts. Looks like we're back to the fire.
"If I knew that, she'd be in jail."
"Was she young then or is she young now?"
"She's probably in her late 20's." Sheriff's phone starts ringing and he reaches into his pocket, pulling it out and looking at the caller. "I gotta take this call." But he doesn't answer the call because Stiles fires out more questions.
"You don't know her name?"
"No, I don't. What is this, 20 questions? All we know is that she had a very distinctive, what do you call it? A pendant." Sheriff Stilinski quickly says, slightly walking the opposite direction away from us.
"What the hell is a pendant?" Stiles asks. Gosh, he is smart but sometimes he can be so dumb.
"Stiles, do you go to school? A pendant, a pendant! It's a necklace! Can I answer the phone now?"
"Yes."
"Thank you." That was probably the most rushed conversation I have ever heard between the two. Sheriff Stilinski walks away, finally answering the blaring phone.
