Whoop whoop first One shot y'all! Let's see how this goes :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's almost 8am on a Thursday and I couldn't be any less excited for this class. I mean, most of my college classes are boring as heck anyways, but this one just makes me want to slam my head against the table and die.
The professor is what feels like a million years old and no matter what he says, most of the time you don't understand a word of his random jibberish. Also, his handwriting kind of looks like he was writing with his eyes closed and backwards at the same time. Long story short, I cannot follow his lecture at all. It makes me wonder how he even became a professor in the first place.
I sit down in the back of the huge room, like every other day, because normally nobody else cares to go back here and I can just work on the weekly assignments for this class. I'm good at literature anyways, so I don't need to listen to that old men trying to give tips about how to improve our writing skills. And as much as I love writing, I hate going to this class. The only real enjoyable thing about it are the assignments, which I have enough time for by just sitting here and typing them on my laptop.
By now, all the students have settled down in the huge classroom, almost all of them sitting in the very front, hoping they could at least understand part of what was being said to them. Almost all of them but one.
A brunette, skinny and extremely stressed looking boy sat down a few seats next to mine, quickly smiling at me before looking for something in his backpack.
He pulls out a starbucks coffee and a monster energy drink and puts them on the table. I feel like he hasn't slept much last night. I didn't either, but I was stupid enough to forget my coffee at the dorm.
I just wanted to put on my laptop, but he cought my attention again. He was pouring the energy drink into his coffee and quietly mumbled "I'm gonna die" before drinking half of the mixture.
I lough a little before speaking up. "Dude, what the fuck? Didn't get any sleep last night or why are you giving yourself a caffeine shock?" His facial expression went from stressed to surprised. "Why are you talking to me?" he asked anxiously. "Because you cought my attention and now I am curious as to why you're doing this." I point at his starbucks cup.
He relaxes and smiles slightly. "I didn't sleep since Monday and this is literally the only thing keeping me working like a human being and not wandering around like a zombie." he explains, taking another sip.
"Why didn't you sleep? Is school getting to you?" I ask. "Kinda, I have to turn in the assignments from the last four weeks tomorrow because I wasn't there and they're about 14 assignments considering that a lot of classes make us do them. I still have like three left and I'm literally dying." he says all in one breath. Holy shit, poor boy. "Why were you gone so long anyways?"
"I was given time to go home because my mother was really sick and the doctors where pretty sure she was going to die but she somehow managed to make it and is slowly getting better again." Oh.
"I'm so sorry about that." I say softly. It was true, I feel so bad for this boy right now you can't even imagine.
He smiles, this time rather weakly. "It's okay, she's fine now."
This conversation is basically dead now. He has moved on to spreading his assignment papers around, trying to finish one of the four last ones and I am looking through my computer to see if I have any work left. And I didn't. I finished this weeks assignment on monday already and all the other subjects are done too so far. That's when it clicked in my mind.
"Do you maybe want me to help you? You could come over to my dorm tonight and I could do two of your assignments, I don't have a roommate that could annoy us and I've finished all my work anyways." I suggest, hoping he'd say yes. There is something about him that I really like.
His face lights up as if he'd just been blessed by some otherworldly occurrence and he quickly nods his head before answering. "You would literally save my life if you'd do that. Like, yes please I would love it if you help me."
I can't help but laugh at that. "Okay then, how about you give me your number and I'll text you my dorm number and a time?" I ask. He quickly writes down his number on a sheet of paper and hands it over to me.
"By the way, what's your name, Caffeine Boy?" I ask as I'm typing his number into my phone. "Mitch", he says calmly.
"What's yours, life saver?" He asks back, smiling at his own response.
"I'm Scott."
With that, he moves his stuff and sits down right next to me. He grabs his coffee cup and puts it on my desk.
"Do you want the rest? I'm almost sure you'll need it if you're going to do this later."
I laugh again and empty the cup without hesitation. The caffeine kicks in immediately, and in that moment I'm sure that this is the start of a great friendship, if not even more.
