I drive home. Run to my room. I am still in shock from what just happened. No one comes in to check on me. My mom is probably drunk off her ass and my dad is still in the same place he will be in 25 years. Prison. Finally someone comes in.

"Hey...." Sarah says.

"Get out!" I whisper.

"What?" she seems confused.

"Get out I said." I say a little louder so she can here.

"But Hazel..."

"But Hazel NOTHING" I scream.

"Fine." She walks out of the door. God college can't come any faster. Good thing in 2 days I'm out of Spanish Fort Alabama and Auburn Alabama here I come. I start to read my favorite book. The Fault in Our Stars. I love the book for 2 reasons: 1) The main charactors name is Hazel. 2) It's the best romantice comedy ever.

"Honey are you ok?" My mother manages to slur.

"Can you please just leave me aone. Like you always do" I whisper

"Fine!" She screams. Then I hear the door slam. My Step-Father.

"Make me a rum and Coke!" he commands my mother.

"Fine!" my mother shouts. Then I hear a scream. I pack a few pairs of clothes. Then I climb out of the window and I head towards my grandmothers house. Finally I reach her house.

"Hey Grandma. I hope it's ok if I stay here the night." I choke.

"Sure butterball." she says happily

"I need some sleep if that's ok with you?"

"Sure"she says. As soon as my head hits that pillow I fall asleep.

I wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs on the stove.

"Hey, Butterball. You have been sleeping forever."

"Sorry. I've had a late night."

"I know, Your mother called" she says.

"I can't wait for tomorrw."

"I know. You have been waiting for this since you were 10 I bet." she seems happy.

"Gosh, I can just smell the freedom."

"Listen Butterball, I know you will need someone to talk to and if you want you can almays call me."

"You know I always love talking to my Grammy!" I exclaim sarcasticly.

I walk home and find my mother sitting on the couch. Looking....Worried. Why was she looking worried?

"Honey..."

"Mom is everything ok?" I interrupt her.

"It's your father. He escaped from prison."

"Well why would he be here? He never loved us. If he did he wouldn't be in prison to begin with."

"Hazel, no need to talk about you father like that."

"Really Mom! Because if you care about him so much why did you cheat on him with Jeff? Can you answer that question? I didn't think so!" I scream at her.
