It was a hour drive to my destination which in my language is short. I parked out side a small mini bar named Shitty. The name fits it perfectly. Out side the bar was disgusting. Garbage littering the floor, with vomit on the side walk and cigarette buds laying around. It was shitty for sure.
I dust imaginary dust of my jeans and walk up to the closed door with the sign 'Come In and Fucking Drink' handing form the inside. I chuckled a little at the language in use. Surely rich people wouldn't be seen here. The fair share I've met are too clean.
The smell of alcohol hit my nose strong upon entering the bar. I turn my head to the right and see some junkies laughing then I see some bicker boys with barely clothed girls straddling their laps and finally I see the man that I came here for.
I slowly walk up to him observing him nervously playing with my fingers. He must have been waiting for me for a long time.
"Hi." I say when I reach his table sliding in besides him.
"By time you arrive. I've been waiting here for you for an hour." He huffs, irritation clear on his face.
"Made any new friends?" I ask ignoring his comment.
"Seen someone I would like to take home tonight." he smiles triumphantly.
"Congrats. Now what I can here for."
"I thought I would buy you a drink first." a mischievous smile plays on his face. I look at him for a few seconds before nodding my head. He calls over the waiter.
"Two Burners please." I smiles at the lady that is bent over our table and I see his eyes linger on her breasts which are ready to fall out her bra and roll my eyes.
"What's a Burner." I ask. I'm not really a bar person. I mostly drink in the park or under a bridge. I don't like getting wasted in front of people. That is why I have a lot of sex. It calms me down.
"Don't worry it awesome." he says giving me a flirtatious smile. I raise my left brow at him.
"My boss has told me a lot about you. The Ghost or Archie's angel. It always amazes me how you can disappear for years unsuspected by anyone both good and bad and reappear." I knew where this conversation was headed and I didn't want to run along with it but I had to be nice for Archie's sakes. "What has me puzzled is why you would reappear in this specific part of the world. You were never one for small communities. The last one you were in you... well you vanished living it in a mess." a devilish smile forming on his lips making all the memories of that night flood back in.
"I just came here for the papers." I say as the waiter comes with our drinks. Finally! I grab the small shot glass and empty its contents. It was the strongest alcoholic substance I've ever tasted. It had the back of my throat burning and me letting out a few coughs.
"This is horrible." I scrunch my face with displeasure.
"It gets you drunk fast." he smirks. I glare at him before putting my business face on.
"My papers please. I'm done with you." my patience thin now. I know he saw that because he reached for his bag and took out something in it. Not papers though.
"Not papers, a thumb drive." he says bringing it into my sight. Reach out for it but he pulls it back.
"Answer this one question. Why did you come here, specifically." he looks into my eyes waiting for my response.
"Needed a fresh start." I say. It wasn't a total lie. I did need a fresh start I just needed to do some things before I attained it.
He gives me the thumb drive, I get up and walk away not looking back once.
