New York, 2078
The door slammed open, letting daylight gloss over the dark room, usually only lit by computers, monitors and a handful of lights.
- "Wire, give me the updates. How far have we come?" She said while pulling an office chair over and spinning it around. She stopped it with her boot and sat down, resting her elbows on it. Wire, dressed in an orange jacket with the hood up came around the corner with a stack of notes and a pen on top.
- "Well, Eryn..we're fucked. Not really, we're more stuck. Just a tiny, tiny bit though" Wire said before throwing the note stack on the floor. The pen followed the stack down and bounced off the notes as they hit the ground. He then quickly added
- "I didn't actually need those. That's just paper I've scribbled on. I wanted to look smart". They both had a laugh before Wire looked at his mess and said
- "I'm gonna have to clean that up huh?". She nodded and laughed on.
Wire then, after ignoring his mess, went over to his workbench and started fiddling with a tiny round device.
- "Well, dude..we need to solve this mess. You need to get me into that server room, and quick. "Eryn said as she rolled the office chair over to the workbench.
- "Okay one, you just lost my respect by using the word dude, in an actual sentence" Wire said, noticing Eryn's glare.
- "And two, I couldn't even touch the damn access code without setting alarms off. Apparently they can detect my jackcodes now. They've reinforced security on that damn thing" He added as he kept fiddling with the device in an almost angry way.
- "Hey, anger management man. We'll fix this. We always seem to" Eryn silently shouted back before sighing. "Right, right. Sorry" He said back, leaning over to the right and turning on his monitor. Loads of numbers and symbols showed on screen, making up a coding software. If_Gate1=Open_Result=Insert_!Jack!Err0r#21!_Slammer=Incomplete.
Eryn looked at the screen and saw the word OmniBlue in the corner. Then she looked to Wire and asked- "How close did you get to that code?" He looked back at her and answered.
- "I told you, I didn't even get to touch it". She sighed again and said
- "No, like how far into their system did you physically get?" He started thinking as he looked down at the keyboard. Then he replied.
- "Well I snuck in my little jackcode under the security barrier..". They both looked at each other for a bit before Wire got what she was going for.
He smiled and said
- "You're saying I program another jack and mask it as a security sweep. That way they wont even pay attention to it and I can push my old jackcode along. In the meantime they'll be too busy trying to figure out what tapped into their system earlier" He laughed all evil-like before he kept talking.
- "Oh Eryn, you evil person. I love it. Gonna get right to it". He then put away the device he was working on before he started coding for a new jack.
- "Good boy Wire, I've gotta be off again I think. Gonna need some extra parts from Jan for this" She said as she got up from the chair.
- "See ya later friendo!" Wire said as Eryn went up the stairs and out the door.
After exiting and closing the outer door with the key code, she walked up the steps. Like a meerkat, Eryn poked her head up and looked around, noticing that there were no people anywhere.
- "Hmm, guess the lockdown really was serious then" she said before noticing a message coming to her phone. It read:
- "Whatever you're about to do. Know that you are both in great danger. Wes". She looked at the text for a while, trying to figure out who it was.
