The rest of the day, Louis locked himself in his workshop. He didn't open up for his sister, Zayn or even his mother. He wanted to be alone as he continued to work on the painting, getting more and more frustrated as he couldn't get it right.
At the end of it, he just tossed the brush aside, wanting to break something. Sadly he wasn't frustrated enough to smash the painting, so instead he headed out of the workshop and over to his bedroom where he buried himself in his bed, hiding from the world.
The next time he woke up was when his mother knocked on the door.
"Lou, come have breakfast with the girls? Zayn and I are taking them to the zoo later but they want to meet you before... Unless you want to come?"
Louis took a few deep breath. He didn't want to get out of bed. Didn't want to face his mother and friend, but even less meet his sisters. He didn't want them to see him like that. He was supposed to be their happy but oh so sassy big brother, not a wreck.
"...We won't leave if you don't come down and have breakfast with us." His mother continued and Louis sighted. He didn't want to ruin their day as well...
"I'll be down in a few minutes" Louis explained as he crawled out of bed. His heart was still hurting but he had to get up.
He dragged himself to his own bathroom to freshen up before he got dressed. The next time he passed the mirror he tried to smile at himself, he knew he could fool the twins with his fake smile. Maybe Fizzy would buy it, but Lottie had grown up enough to notice when a smile didn't hit the eyes...
He tried again, but he just couldn't. He gave up his silly attempt to fool his oldest sister and just accepted that she would get to see that side of him.
As he reached the bottom of the stairs, the twins attacked him with hugs. Phoebe and Daisy had big smiles on their faces.
"Lou-lou! We missed you yesterday!"
"Are you coming with us to the zoo?"
Louis didn't know what to say. He couldn't lie to them so he just hugged them harder.
"I'd love to, but I have to work..." Louis tried, the faces of the similar girls fell. They nodded understanding but disappointment on their faces. "We can do something together, tomorrow. Now, time for breakfast!" And with that he swooped the two girls up, one on each of his shoulders as he walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning, ladies!" He cheered, setting the girls down by the table. He walked over, giving his mother a kiss on her cheek as a thank you for making breakfast, before sitting down next to her.
"So, you guys going to the zoo today? What animal do you want to see?" Phoebe was most excited to see the giraffes, while Daisy just wanted to play in the park she remembered that they had. Fizzy only wanted to try out her new camera.
"What about you Lotts? You okay?" He noticed that his oldest sister were a lot more quiet than usual. She just poked around with her fork in the scrambled eggs their mother had done. The blond girl looked up nodding slowly.
"Yeah, course" She lied, eyes nagging Louis as she continued; "You?"
"Me?" Louis asked, not fully understanding what his sister meant, even if he did have a clue.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, sure!" He said and smiled but not fooling the girl who snorted quietly turning back to her food. The table went quiet, everyone focusing on their own food. It was unusual, on any normal they you would have to fight to make your voice heard. The room was quiet until a knock was heard and Zayn's cheerful voice filled the house.
