It's been a couple months, maybe more. I haven't spoke to him.. not once. He's messaged me once or twice here and there. I'd ignore it. He has another girlfriend now. Anything that happened between us simply doesn't matter anymore. He's probably been with her longer than I want to believe he has. Our relationship was probably nothing but lies.

I've been staring at the fire I'd lit in the fireplace a couple hours ago for a while. It's dying out and I needed it to, but the same thought has been screaming in the back of my head.
burn all of it, every last piece of him
I was tempted. It was all right there anyways. In a box that once stored printer paper now held the last two years of my life. Pictures, letters, tickets from events, pressed flowers, and other stupid things I kept.
I got off the couch, grabbed the box, and made my way over to the fire. I took the lid off and dropped it to the floor. I pulled out a Polaroid picture of him from last fall. I flicked it in there to burn like it was nothing.
The last two years of my life really seem like nothing now.

I was ready to add more but someone knocked at the door nearly giving me a heart attack. I wrapped a blanket around me and ran to the door. I opened it but once regretted it. He stood there soaking wet from the rain.
"What in gods na– what are you doing here?" It came out a lot harsher than I intended. He rocked on his feet and stuffed his hands in his pockets. He's nervous.
"Robbie what's wrong?" All it took was .2 seconds and I was sincerely worried.
"I uh.." he laughed, "This is gonna sound insane but I um- I miss you."
"What?" It came out as a short laugh but nothing about this is funny.
"This was ridiculous. I shouldn't have came here–"
"It's freezing out there.. come on." I urged him to come inside. This would probably be a mistake. He walked past me and made his way into the living room. I forgot about the box.
"Oh no." I whispered. I made my way to him and sure enough he was on the floor.
"What are you doing?" He asked, "wait.. that's from fall break last year at Logan's. Why are you burning all of this?"
"I'm tired of it sitting there as some stupid reminder. It's been two years, why are you here now?"
"Why are you doing this now? You're finally done with me and I'm just realizing I messed up big time."
Yeah. That sounds about right.
I shrugged.
"Clearly this was ridiculous– coming over here. I'm gonna go home." He got up and walked out the door and I didn't have one intention on stopping him. He walked away once before.. he's done it again.
