After what seemed like a few hundred days, there was finally a knock at the door which awoke me from my sleep. Montana. I sat up straight from my position on the couch where I had chosen to rest my tiredness off and hurried over to let in an impatient Monty. As soon as I pulled open the door, the questions started pouring out right away before I could even greet her.
“Ahhh! Who was he? What’s his name? Is he hot? Do I know him? How old is he? What colour are his eyes? Where did he take you on your date today? Oh my god, I’m so happy for you!” she squealed, her arms flailing around.
“Slow down Monty,” I rolled my eyes and placed my hands on her shoulders to try and calm her. Of course she would be going crazy, why was I even surprised? I should’ve been expecting this from her. “And give me the ice-cream before it slips from yours hand and you drop it. I’ll have you know I’ve been waiting for this for like 5 hours.”
She passed it to me before running excitedly inside and to the couch to pick a movie to watch. I could tell by the way she was acting that we weren’t even going to be paying any attention to the movie for the whole night. She definitely wasn’t going to be able to function properly until I spilled every single detail about today; and she was going to be in for one hell of a heart attack once she found out.
“Oi, I have like leftover chicken in the fridge if you want it!” I called out to her before walking into the kitchen to grab 2 spoons for the ice cream, dreading what was going to happen tonight.
“Nah, I ate before I got here,” she answered.
When I walked back out into the living room, Montana had already placed the disc into the player, the opening credits already playing on the screen. Friends with Benefits. I rolled my eyes and flicked the light switch off before sitting down next to her. I passed her a spoon and placed the tub of ice cream between us.
“So, how was work today?” I asked, hoping to get her mind off Harry.
“It was alright,” she shrugged before her eyes widened. “Just not as good as when I drove past here and saw you get in some guy’s car. And it was a Range Rover Sport! That is a good sign, trust me. He’s the one for you. You’ve always wanted a Range Rover, haven’t you? I remember you going on and on about it for like the past three years!”
I laughed at her reasonings. “Okay, so just because he owns the car that I happen to want, it automatically makes him my… I don’t know, soul mate?”
“Well okay then, besides that, I did see him get into the car and he did have a cute ass. And…” she trailed off, lifting herself up from her seat and walking into the kitchen that was visible from where we were sitting. At first I wondered what she was doing but the second she came back, holding his coat, I realised why she had acted so weirdly.
“Is this his?” she asked, almost in a whisper. And just when I thought her eyes couldn’t get any wider than this, she proves me wrong. “OH MY GOD TAYLA! Did you two have sex?”
“Ew, no!” I didn’t know whether to laugh or stab myself at her words because the picture that her assumption had put in my head had me shuddering. “He gave it to me last night when we were walking home. Calm down Mont-”
“Walking home? Last night?” she gasped as she dropped her spoon and ran her hands through her brown hair, clearly more than ecstatic. Her hair was a bit shorter than when I had last seen her; it normally came to just above her waist but right now, it was barely halfway down her torso. But before I could ask her how she even had the time to get a trim, especially during the middle of exams and all, she faked a cough to get my attention again.
“It’s no big deal. That’s actually how we met two nights ago,” I explained to her and when she gestured for me to go on, I sighed but did as I was told. “He just saw me walking back home from work and he told me he’d just left a club and asked to walk me home.”
