My eyes slowly open to the sound of birds chirping. I look at my surroundings and realize i'm not at my own house. I start to panic and try to get up. I string muscular arm was holding me down. 

 I look down and realize it's Jack. I slightly relax and lay back down. All the memories from yesterday came flooding back. My eyes start to get watery. 

  I loved my mom with all my heart. She was my best friend for years. I had never seen her like that. There was so much anger on her face and in her voice.

I didn't know the divorce had affected her this much. I wonder if it affected Ryder as much

I quickly sit up flinging Jacks arm off of me sprinting out of his room. How could I have forgotten about my own brother, my own blood. I try to unlock the front door, but I struggle to do so. I hear Jacks heavy footsteps coming towards me. 

I start to cry and drop to the floor when I'm not able to unlock the door. I start banging and slapping the door. 

  "Hey, what's wrong ." Jack says grabbing my hands. 

 I look at him in the face and cry even more. I wrap my arms around him and sob. 

    " I don't know where my.. my brother is." I say stuttering

  " Why don't I open the door and take you over to your house." He says while rubbing my back

 He helps me stand up and wraps his arm around my waist. He unlocks the door and slowly opens it so it doesn't hit me. 

 We slowly but surely walk over to my house. I see the front door open and run towards it. I run in and see Ryder standing in the empty living room.

He turns around with tears in his eyes. 

  " What happened here, and where is mom?" He asks

" She was taken away by the police." I say quietly

" Well we have to go bail her out." He says walking towards the door

  I step in front of him to stop him. He looks at me confused .

  "You don't want to bail out mom, Ryder." I tell him

  " Why? are you not telling me something?" he asks

  " Mom got really drunk and tried to kill me yesterday." I say tears falling down my face. 

 He walks closer to me and hugs me. I wrap my arms around him burying my head into his neck. Even though he is 14 years old, he is pretty tall for his age.
