You sniffle and shrink into your blankets further, the storm raging outside the dorm commons. Your hair shifted against your face. You were curled up on one of the sofas in the commons with your favorite blanket wrapped around your shivering body. It wasn't necessarily cold, but it was comforting, especially with a thunderstorm crashing against the windows.
Your head jerked upwards at a sudden sound and nearly screamed at the silhouette in front of the hallway. Your shout was held back when you realized it was just another girl from your dorm. She had a mug of something in her sweater-covered hands. Her eyes shone in the dark as she made her way over and sat down at the chair near you.
You were both silent, the only sound in the room being the thunder and the only light being lightning. The girl had long, shining blond hair that glinted in the short yellow glows of lightning strikes.
Not a word was spoken, and three hours later the girl stood up and passed your sleeping figure without a second glance.

Your next interaction with her was a few days later. You were frantically writing an essay in the dorm commons, having been kicked out by your roommate Eliza since her boyfriend Roderich was visiting her. Well, you hadn't been kicked out per se, but you knew that the room was going to become really heated really fast.
She passed you on her way out. Her blonde hair shone in the morning sunlight and she glanced at you once. She took in your disheveled hair, darkened eyes from lack of sleep, and ruffled clothing. Then she walked by without a word.
A coffee cup was placed at your table and you glanced up with bleary eyes, taking in a sheet of blonde hair before the color was hidden behind a wall.

One week later there's another storm and you both find yourselves in the commons again. You fight yourself to say something, anything, asking her name or why she's here, but you can't bring yourself to break the silence. This time, it's you who leaves first. You stop before exiting the commons but continue to your dorm without a word.

You're determined now. Three weeks later, you and this girl have been passing each other, buying coffee when the other needs it, hanging out in the commons when it storms or when it's simply a late night (in fact, you have suspicions that she's there every night).
Regardless, the two of you act almost like your friends, but neither of you have spoken a word to each other. You were going to change this. With caffeine coursing through your veins (since you would most likely lose your nerve without it) you strode towards the commons at nine am sharp on Thursday morning.
If you were right, then she would be on her computer as of right now. You rounded the corner and there she sat, her hair shining and her eyes concentrated. Suddenly you feel daunted by your herculean task; she looks a bit intimidating, anyway, so maybe you should leave her alone...
You snapped out of your thoughts when she turned her head and stared at you. Her icy blue eyes seemed to bore holes in your skull and you gulped, tightening your grip on your shoulder bag. But now she had seen you, and you knew that you had to act soon or the two of you might never talk.
You planned to stomp right up to her and say "I think it's about time we talked to each other, I'm Y/N."
Instead, you nearly face-planted on your way to her seat. She was already looking at you, so you didn't need to get her attention. "Uh... hi, my name is Y/N..."
She was silent and cocked her head infinitesimally to the side. Another wave of doubt crashed over you. "I thought that... well, since you and I see each other a lot, and we're running into each other, and how we could... um..." You took a deep breath. "I just wanted to introduce myself. So I'm Y/N."
A few beats passed and you turned slightly, looking for escape. This was a bad idea.
Just as you were about to take your first step away from the girl, she spoke. "I am Natalya, and there is a reason we always run into one another."
You blinked. "Excuse me?"
A tiny, almost unnoticeable smile was on her face (almost unnoticeable; you noticed it and a warm feeling spread through your chest). "I find you interesting and, while I did not originally camp in the commons, stayed for you. Your visits help me stay sane in the wake of my brother."
"Oh," you said on reflex, still absorbing the information. "Okay."
"Therefore," Natalya stood up, her purse in hand. "Would you like to get coffee together?"
You smiled, relief painted on your face. "I would love to."
