His Mute Mate

Chapter 9

wake up with the sun streaming through the windows. Even though I don't remember opening the curtains at all. 'Oh well' I think to myself. I slowly crawl out of bed and go to the bathroom. My face is no longer pale and I feel ok. 'Why can't I eat' I ask myself. I wish I knew why. I know something has to be wrong with me. Everything is wrong with me really. But I have to be sick or something. 'Maybe I should tell Kace.' No he would just get over protective and take me to a doctor. It's probably just because I have not eaten in a long time. Eventually my body will adapt to eating real food. I just have to take small steps.

I hear the door creak open and exit the bathroom to see who it is. Anna. Great. "Emmeline are you on here" she asks. I decide to hide in the bathroom. I was small enough to fit under the sink so that's the first place I hid. Slowly I closed the cabinet door making sure she didn't hear me. I wasn't about to talk to her. Not after what she said about me. She was secretly a biatch.

I hear her footsteps get closer and breathe lightly. I hear her walk in to the bathroom looking in the shower before whispering something. "Oh no, Kace is gonna kill me. I lost her." I kind of felt bad for her. Kace probably wouldn't be happy about her losing me before he could kill me and find a proper Luna. One who could actually lead such a strong pack. As her footsteps retreat to go get Kace I decide to stay under the sink. Pretty sure she would go get Kace. Then he would send guards all through out the woods to look for me. I forgot the window had been open so it probably did look like I had left.

But who left the window open.

I just hope Kace doesn't look in here for me. As soon as he got close enough he would be able to smell me and figure out exactly where I was hiding. Then get mad at me for hiding. So I decide to sneak out from under the sink. Quickly I tip toe over to the open window and look down. Perfect there is a ledge. With my experience with climbing trees it would be easy to hide there while Kace checks in here.

I swing my leg over the wall and then swing my other leg over. I turn my body around and hold on to the window ledge and let my feet dangle close to the ledge before dropping the few inches between the ledge and the window sill. I let my nerves calm down and pray I'm able to reach the window sill again. Which I probably won't. 'Wow I'm smart' I think to myself rolling my eyes. I hear the door of the bedroom open and two pairs of feet walk in. "She was here taking a nap like 30 minutes ago Kace I swear" i heard Anna say, sounding distressed. 'That's what you get for trash talking me.' "Did you check the whole room" Kace's deep voice asks her sounding mad.

The sound of his voice makes me want to climb back into the room and throw myself into his strong arms. But then I would blow my cover and he would more than likely kill me. And I don't wanna die.

"I swear I looked everywhere for her. She isn't here" Anna said. "She's gotta be here somewhere" Kace growled. I gulped. 'Please don't smell me, please don't smell me, please don't smell me' I prayed over and over again in my head. I heard him basically take the room apart looking for me. "Send guards to look for her" he commanded Anna. I heard her walk out the room and the bed creak as he sat down on It tore my heart in two listening to how upset he was. I decide to get a head start on the guards and take off into the forest. This time with nothing. "I'm sorry Kace" I whisper. Then I keep running and don't  look back.
