"leia!" was the first thing she head as she walked through the doors of liberty high. the halls were still the same as they were a few years before, the lockers were the same dull blue, student posters were covering the hall walls. high school students swarmed the halls split into their usual groups. jocks, cheerleaders, nerds, outcasts. nothing had changed, so far.
leia looked around wondering where the voice had come from, until someone ran up to her and pulled her into a bone crushing hug. not having a chance to look at who it was, she spoke up. "i really hope this is someone i know otherwise this will be really awkward."

"now how can you forget one of your favourite people in the whole entire world?" that cocky, cheeky voice. she knew exactly who it was. leia gasped and pulled back, looking at the person.

"justin foley," she grinned and pulled him back into a tight hug. justin was one of the first people she had ever met here, and surprisingly he was one of the nicest to her. yeah, he could be a major asshole when he wanted to be, but he was never like that to leia. he respected her, he viewed her as the sister he never had, he would protect her with his life. "it's so good to see you, it's been so long!"

"way too long, look at you, you're all grown up now!" justin smiled, looking at her. her short blonde hair was now long, her body was more curved and toned, her skin went from pale to tan, her brown eyes were shining brighter than they had ever before.

"oh stop, foley. i'm still the same leia jones from a few years ago, just a few tweaks here and there." she laughed, her smile radiating. they both started walking slowly, making sure not to block the entrance of the school. justin smiled at her, happy that one of his old best friends was back, one of the only best friends he'd fully trust and know would always be there for him.

"just a few? leia you're like model material now. just you wait until every guy in school is falling at your feet," justin said. "speaking of, here comes someone else you know."

as she turned around, she screamed. "clay jensen!" she ran up to him, throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him into a tight hug while squealing. clay chuckled and hugged her back, squeezing her and making her groan. "clay, you're gonna squish me!" she squealed out again, before pulling back and smiling. "wow you've gotten so tall," leia said while looking at him. he had definitely grown a few inches since they last saw each other.
"hey, i'm getting there. i'm trying okay?!" clay joked and pulled her in for another hug. "oh god it's so good to have you back, you have no clue how much my mom and dad have missed you. all they've been talking about the last few days is when they'll get to see you. they may as well adopt you." he said. it felt good having leia back, her and clay got on like two peas in a pod and he was happy she was finally back.

"i don't think my mom would agree to that, but i'll always be pretend adopted daughter." leia laughed. as clay pulled back, leia noticed that there was someone standing beside him looking slightly awkward. she had long brown curly hair, pale skin, bright blue eyes, pink rosy cheeks and plump pink lips. she was absolutely gorgeous, if that word could even describe her. leia eyed clay and looked at the mystery girl, already having a slight idea to she was. "oh uh, hannah, this is leia jones, one of my best friends. leia, this is hannah baker. we uh, we met at the crestmont, we both work there." clay stammered. leia looked at the girl and smiled. "it's so nice to finally meet you. i've heard so many things about you from clay." leia said, a small smirk pulling at the ends of her lip. clay's eyes widened and opened his mouth before getting interrupted.
"all good things, i hope." hannah smiled, her rosy cheeks complimenting her smile. "definitely good things!" leia giggled, wiggling her eyebrows at clay. "okay! well hannah and i are gonna go to our lockers. do you need help finding the office?" clay asked, his hands making their way to hannah's shoulders ready to guide her away from the embarrassing conversation that would take place if he didn't stop leia from exposing his little crush.

"oh no, it's fine. i'm gonna catch up with a few people before going to the office. i'll find my way. may the force be with you." leia grinned. "may the force be with you." clay grinned back before walking off with hannah. leia looked at them both and laughed before turning the corner down the hallway, bumping into someone causing their textbooks to fall onto the floor. "oh shit i'm so sorry!" leia gasped, leaning down and picking up the books as the other person did too.
"no it's okay, i wasn't watching where i was going!" the person replied. the voice sounded oddly familiar to leia, almost like someone she'd known for a few years too. when she looked up, she looked into a pair of deep blue eyes and gasped.

"jeff." "leia, hey." "fancy seeing you here." leia smiled, looking at him. oh wow, had he changed. his silky brown hair was no longer swept across his forehead like it was, it was now in a perfectly styled quiff. he now had both of his ears pierced, and was wearing a blue and light green sports jacket with the letter 'L' on the left side. he had definitely changed. he looked older, more mature, more handsome.
"what can i say, i absolutely love school and i'd spend every minute of my free time here," jeff said sarcastically, making leia laugh a little. "you look good."

"are you saying i looked horrible before?" she joked. jeff opened his mouth and quickly shook his head. "no no no, definitely not. i-i mean you looked amazing before, y-you ju-" leia laughed, confusing jeff. why was she laughing? "i know what you meant, you idiot. you look good too," she smiled, looking at him. she could feel his eyes staring back at her, making her heart thump in her chest. "i like the new hair style too. very sleek."

"i like the new tan look. really suits you." jeff smiled back at her. "do you uh, do you need help getting to the office? i'm guessing you haven't gotten your schedule yet?"
"oh uh, if you don't mind. i know i use to come here, but honestly, i've forgotten where most things are. how surprising." leia joked, making jeff chuckle.

"yeah this school is never easy, is it?" jeff smiled at her as they made their way down the halls towards the office.

"so uh, how's your mom? and riley?" asked jeff, making leia smile. knowing that jeff still cared enough to ask about her family meant a lot to her. "yeah they're good. mom's back working at the hospital, and riley's starting his first day of school today. it feels weird not having my dad around anymore, but what can you do?" leia replied, her voice quieting down as she mentioned her father. talking about her father was a touchy subject for leia, not because she wasn't over it, because she was. it was just hard for her to sit there and hear her little brother ask her where their father was, and every time leia would have to make up a somewhat excuse until he was old enough to fully understand.

"your dad was a great man." jeff smiled at her sadly. he had met her father many times when he went over to leia's, and surprisingly her father was very accepting of jeff. maybe it was because jeff wasn't the everyday jock asshole that you bumped into. he was a nice, genuinely and bubbly guy who was friends with everybody and didn't leave anybody left out. that's one of the many things that leia loved about him. he was an all around guy, and everybody loved him.

"he was, wasn't he?" she smiled back at him sadly. it still pained her, but she wasn't going to cry over it anymore. she had accepted the fact that he wasn't here anymore and moved on. that's what her father would have wanted. he would have wanted her to be happy, so she was going to do so, for him.
nothing else was said between them until they had arrived at the office. leia looked at him and smiled before speaking up. "thanks for taking me here, hopefully i remember where it is."

"it's all good. if you ever need help finding a class or anything just give me a shout." jeff said, walking towards the office door and grabbing onto the handle and opening it for leia. she smiled at him as they both walked in, making sure not to block the doorway. "we still on for tonight after school?"

"yeah of course, i'll meet you at the gym after last period?" leia asked, double checking so she knew 100%. it would have been very awkward if she were to show up to the gym after school only to find it filled with basketball players instead of baseball players.

"yeah, i'll be there for an hour or so for baseball practice but you don't have to come straight after school and wait for the whole hour if you don't want t-"

"no it's fine, i want to. it's been a long time since i saw you play, i can judge you at how much better you've gotten - or worse." leia teased, causing jeff to playfully roll his eyes and pull her into a side hug. leia laughed and wrapped her arms around him, her short frame making a sharp contrast to jeff's tall height.

"see you then, princess leia." jeff winked at her as he opened the door, ready to leave the office. leia laughing at him and shaking her head. "see you then, star player."
