I wandered the halls of the Royal Hope Hospital before any of the nurses catch me and send me back to my rooms. I am the only mental patient here and proud to be it. Since they hospital is cheap I get to wear my own clothes strange huh. I reached for a doorknob to play with the kids in the child ward and I got shocked. Strange huh? I say that a lot. I walked into a ward and listened into a conversation.
"I was all right till this morning, and then... I don't know, I woke up and I felt all dizzy again. It was worse than when I came in." An old lady said as the head doctor stood and took her pulse. All the students sat around and took notes.
"Pulse is slightly thready. Well, let's see what Britain's finest might suggest. Any ideas, Morgenstern?" He asked to the blonde kid next to him. I think it will be salt deficiency.
"Err, dizziness could be a sign of early onset diabetes." Morgenstern replied
"Hardly early onset, if you'll forgive me, Miss Finnegan. Any more ideas? Swales?" Swales looked up
"Could recommend a CT scan." Swales suggested
"And spend all our money? Jones?"
"We could take bloods and check for Meniere's disease." Martha Jones my favorite Doctor in training replied boldly.
"Or we could simply ask the patient. What did you have for dinner last night?"
"I had salad."
"And the night before?"
"Salad, again."
"And salad every night for the past week, contrary to my instructions. A salt deficiency, that's all." Boom called it. "Simple, honest salt." And then we started moving I followed them something told me to. "Hippocrates himself expounded on the virtues of salt. Recommended the inhalation of steam from sea water. Though no doubt if he'd been afflicted with my students, his oaths might have been rather more colorful." We passed an elevator with a strange man with a totally black outfit with a motorcycle helmet on with the black visor down. "Now then, Mr. Smith, a very good morning to you. How are you today?" I looked up and found a man. He gaped at me before turning to the head doctor.
"Oh, not so bad. Still a bit, you know... Blah.""John Smith, admitted yesterday with severe abdominal pains. Jones, why don't you see what you can find? Amaze me." Martha leaned down and I tilted my head at the man as he stared at my smile.
"It wasn't very clever running around outside was it?"
"Sorry?" He asked tearing his gaze from me.
"On Chancellor Street, this morning. Came up to me and took your tie off."
"Really? What did I do that for?"
"I don't know, you just did."
"Not me. I was here in bed. Ask the nurses."
"Well, that's weird 'cause it looked like you. Have you got a brother?" I noticed a sharp pain in my gut when she asked that.
