CHAPTER 3

"Finally" I mumbled to myself throwing my pencil down on the hundreds of sheets of paper scattered all over my bed. I swear teachers just love to torture students with homework. I lied down closing my eyes to get some rest when I heard yelling coming from downstairs.

"All you fucking care about is your work and money!" I heard mom exclaim to my dad.

"I care about work and money because it's what keeps a roof over your children's head!"

"Our children." Mom retorted.

"Not by blood!"

"Keep your voice down!" I heard my mother shout in a whisper.

What the fuck?! He's not my blood related father? I heard a noise come from behind me and saw Katherine sitting down on the small sofa in the hall outside of her bedroom door. She had her arm on the wooden armrest supporting her head. I went over to her and sat down. We didn't say anything for a few seconds until Katherine spoke up. "It makes since."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"We look nothing like dad, we have nothing in common with dad, and he never acted like he truly loved us like an actual father would love their children." She stated simply.

"I guess you're right. I never really noticed that but now that you bring it up I can't help but know it's true." I said with tears forming in his eyes. Katherine saw the tears and put her arm around me trying to comfort me as best as she could.

"When do you think they were going to tell us." I asked.

"I don't think they were."

"So they just planned on lying to us for the rest of our lives?" I couldn't help it now, tears started falling down my face like a waterfall. How could they just lie to us like that? My own mother! Did she not even care. My whole life I've been calling this man my dad and all he is, is a worthless unloving lier. Like Katherine said, it was obvious. I mean it's true, he never acted like he loved us or even liked us! I got up to go to my room so I could clear my mind of the shit I just heard.

"Are you okay?" Katherine asked sounding concerned.

"Yeah I'll be fine. I'm just tired, I'm just gonna go try to rest my eyes for an hour or 2."

"Okay."

Katherine's POV:

"What the hell is wrong with ya'll?!" I exclaimed to my parents after I walked down the stairs.

"Katherine, language!" My so called dad said.

"You can't tell me what to do! You aren't even my real father!" I yelled in his face while mom paced the floor running her hands through her hair.

"Calm down swee..." My mom said trying to calm me down until Ron cut her off.

"You know what?! You're right I'm not your father but I'm still one of your gaurdians, and im an adult so you can't yell at me like that."

"Well guess what old man, I am too!" I retorted. "So I can say all the fucking things I want too and you can't stop me!"

"You're only 18!"

"I don't give a damn! I am still an adult!"

"Go to your fucking room!" He yelled inches away from my face.

"Make me, I'd like to see you try!" Right once I said that Ron slapped me right on the left side of my face.

"Damn it Ron!" My mom exclaimed. "You left a huge hand mark on her face!"
