it was a bright sunny day on the beach just like every other stereotypical start to stories, I don't even know why I bothered to say that. I sometimes think I need to work on spouting useless information, but that's just me a dorky kid that can't control his boring personality... do you ever feel that way haha... I do.
the sand was warm against my bare feet and the gentle wind made my dirty blonde hair even messier. The only sound was faint calls from passing seagulls on the nearly empty beach. I kicked a small stone a few feet ahead it bounced off a rock and into a tidepool, tiny ripples filled the tiny ecosystem a few sand eels swam frantically around the pool terrified by the ripples.
I suppose to the sand eels those weren't just harmless ripples but instead fearsome waves that thrashed and shook their only home. I envy small creatures, I don't want to be them or anything I just envy that in their little community the only judgment is by predators and not your own kind.
I walk over to the small tidepool and look into the tidepool my reflection coming into focus as the ripples settle down. my reflection stares back at me. I look directly at my eyes they shine a brilliant emerald green in the mid-afternoon light I notice some new movement near a rock that doesn't belong to the now traumatized sand eels.
I reach into the cool water toward whatever is near the rock, as soon as my hand touches the sand I curl my hand inward scooping up the mass of sand kelp and pebbles. something moves in the mound of tidepool contents. then I feel a pain sharp and quick course through my palm into my wrist.
I yelp from the shock, I frantically shake my hand clearing it of the sand to reveal a slow stream of scarlet blood run down my palm. I look over to where the mound of sand now lays.a crab squirms out of the sand and slowly makes its way toward the waves. I walk over and look at the creature that had caused my injury the crab was a small little one but none the less I was still bleeding. I pick up the crab and walk down to where the waves touch my toes like a cat playing at the feet of its owner I set the crab down in the water before it decides to pinch me again.
I watch as the crab waddles through the water slowly going deeper and deeper into the blue depths. I sigh and look down at my palm now almost completely covered in blood. I count to three and shove my hand into the ocean to wash it off
"uurggggggh" I groan from the stinging of salt in the cut. I shake my hand gently my blood spreads slowly through the water like smoke. I stand up and look out at the ocean I close my eyes and let the sun warm my face I stay there for a while, each minute my mind clearing leaving but one thought. the most advanced species is also the only one with conflict... makes you think, doesn't it?
