After what seemed like an age, Philip started to calm down a little.

He took a breath, and asked "Okay. So I'm dead. That's fine. What do I do?"

Laurens paused to think, then replied "Well, you kind of have a choice. You can either move on, or you can stay and watch over a person you know, or their family, like I did. No matter what you pick, I'm still going to stay by your side."

At that moment, a crossroads appeared. One route had a sign labeled 'Heaven', and the other was 'Guardian'.

Laurens sighed, and added "And there are your choices. You have an infinite
amount of time to choose, but I'm stuck here, too."

"...Why?"

"Because the universe just works like that."

"o-okay?"

Philip slowly stood up, and began to stride towards the 'Guardian' route. "I don't want to leave my family behind after two tragedies in the same year," He mumbled.

Miraculously, John heard and replied "Eh, it's your choice, and I can't do anything to change your mind, can I?"

Philip walked walked faster. John shot up and began to run after, shouting "Hey! Wait up!" Philip didn't reply, but slowed down to a walking pace, so that Laurens could catch up.

Together, they strode into the light.
