"Guys we're here! Our new home. Isn't this great?" Mum said as we pulled into our new driveway.
I mumbled something in reply.
She had not been exaggerating when she said our new house would be bigger than our old one. It was huge! The last few weeks had whizzed past in a blur of saying goodbye to friends. I chewed my lip as I took in the view of our new house from my backseat window. I opened my door, followed by my sister, then finally mum.
I took in a big gulp of air. Ok, this is it. A fresh start.Alex and I followed mum to the front door and waited as she unlocked it.
Unsteadily, I walked into the house and took a moment to admire the scenery. I was standing in a big hallway, which had one door on either side of it. The one on the right led to the kitchen whilst the one on the left led to to the living room. In the middle of the hallway, there was a huge staircase made from marble. I started to climb up, still not really believing that this was my new house.
"So... What do you guys think?" Mum asked us.
"It's ok," I mumbled."Are you kidding me Charlie! This place is amazing. Just look at the size of it. I think our new home is gre-"
"Don't you mean our new house," I questioned. I had yet to call this place my home.
" Yeah, whatever. But what I'm trying to say is this house is better than ok!"
I rolled my eyes and continued up the stairs. Finally, I arrived at the landing. There were six bedrooms which meant Alex and I definitely wouldn't be sharing. I couldn't decide how I felt about that. I had shared a room with my twin ever since we were little.
I made my way into the closest bedroom from the stairs. It was pretty spacious and was decorated with a light pink carpet and hot pink rug yuck! Two opposite walls were light purple and the other two matched the rug. I smiled. Who was the demented decorator who thought anyone would want this? Nevertheless, I liked this room. Once I got rid of the terrible flooring and walls and got something more to my taste, it would be fine. As fast as I could, I ran to the top of the staircase banister and shouted, "I've found my room!" while pointing to the bedroom.
I didn't want to look at the other rooms. I knew this was the one.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang."Charlotte, can you get it?"mum shouted from the kitchen where she was unpacking stuff.
Sighing, I made my way to the door and opened it.
My breath caught in my throat. Standing at the door, was a boy who looked around my age. He had dark brown wavy hair and the deepest sea green eyes. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt, black skinny jeans and white converse. I can't lie. He was the most handsome boy I had ever seen.
He cleared his throat and smiled. I realised I had been staring."Hi, I'm Michael. I'm your new neighbour."
"Nice to meet you I... I'm err..my name's Char... Charlotte?" It came out as a question.
Well done, Charlotte. The first person you meet in your brand new town and you stare at him like a idiot and forget your own name. What a lovely first impression. I wonder what he's thinking now!
"So, Char Charlotte my family wanted to welcome your family to the neighbourhood," I noticed he had stuttered my name on purpose to make fun of me. I felt my cheeks flush red. His smile wavered as he noticed it.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mea-"
"Don't worry about it." I smiled and waved my hands in the air in a dismissive manner. I looked at my shoes. There was nothing but awkward silence for a few seconds. I looked up and to my disbelief he was staring at me. Right, stupid who else is he gonna stare at. But he didn't stop.
What's so interesting about me? I quickly looked myself over. I was wearing a plain light blue jumper, white trousers and black ballet shoes. Yep, nothing interesting there. Then why was he staring at me like that.
I fake coughed to get his attention. Instantly, he came out of whatever trance he was in."Oh, erm... sorry..." he stuttered.
Was... he blushing? I smiled to myself.
He gave a confused look.
"You're blushing," I stated. His face became even redder. I couldn't help it and started laughing. Soon after, he started chuckling."Who's this, Charlie?"
My sister was suddenly by my side with a bemused look on her face.
"Alex, this is our new neighbour, Michael."I turned to look at Michael who was looking back and forth between us with an unreadable expression, " So you're twins?"
"We're twins," Alex replied.
"Anyways nice to meet you Alex and Charlotte-"
"Call me Charlie," I interrupted.
"Nice to meet you Alex and Charlie but I think I need to go now."
With a small smile, he turned around and entered the building next to us while Alex and I went in our new house.
Thanks for reading. I know there's not much excitement in this chapter and it's really short but don't worry this was just a filler.
Why do you think Michael was staring at Charlotte?
