Placing my bag on the chair nearest my friend I then rummaged through it for my cap and goggles. As I sat on a free bench I had to take my pool clothes off as warm up was scheduled to start in 10 minutes.
Heather and I then went into lane 4 with the rest of our team mates. It wasn't until I had jumped into the pool that I realized just how cold the water was, so cold it took a whole 400 meters to warm up!
During the warm up I worked on some freestyle but more importantly breastroke as that was the event I was here to swim and closest to my heart.
When the sprint lanes were announced I climbed out of the pool and pushed my way to the front so I would have time to do more than one start. Oh how I hated the amount of people at national competitions. It's bad enough not having enough space to do a decent warmup never mind not being able to breath!! - sorry it's not much but could people tells what they think? my first story so I have no idea!
