The day honestly couldn't possibly have gone by any slower. I sat in last period and stared at the clock, anxiously counting down the minutes until the bell rang and I was finally able to get out of this place. My friend Kasey came over to me and said,

-

"Hey Cami, are you okay?" She looked nervous.

-

"Uh yeah, I'm fine why?"

-

"Oh, I just uh...I noticed that you've been bouncing your leg and biting your lip all throughout the period; you only do that when you're anxious."

-

"Just in a hurry to get out of this place, it's like a prison, ya know? I'm fine though," I smiled and she walked away.

-

The bell eventually rang and I was the first one out of my seat, followed by the rest of the students in my class. I walked out the door and down the hallway to my locker where I found a post-it note stuck on it.

-

Hey! I can't drive you home today, I have to stay after for Chem, yikes! I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you, I promise!

Ugh, now I have to walk home. I threw everything I needed into my backpack and slammed my locker shut. I walked to the front of the building and stopped as soon as I stepped outside. The roads were covered in a thin layer of ice and snow was falling all around me. I continued to walk to my house all by myself.

-

I plugged in my headphones and began to listen to a playlist I had on Spotify. I walked slowly, careful not to slip on the ice. Unfortunately, my precautions were not very helpful. When I reached the top of my street, I looked down at my phone to change the song and kept walking. I walked right over a rather thick sheet of ice and slipped and fell. I put my hands out in front of  me to stop myself from falling, but instead I landed on my wrist.

-

"Ow!"

-

I cried out in pain and stood up. I unplugged my headphones and put them in my backpack. I cautiously walked home the rest of the way and when I got home, I found nobody home except for my older brother, Christian.

-

"Yikes, what happened to you?" He asked when I walked inside holding my wrist and wincing in pain.

-

"I slipped on some ice and I hurt my wrist. Can you drive me to the doctors office? I gotta get this checked out," I asked him.

-

"Lemme see," he said, getting up from his position on the couch. He walked over to me and looked at my wrist. "Alright, get in the car."

-

"Thanks, Christian," I said as I smiled at my brother.
