2. On the run

"Fuck fuck fuck fuck come on!" He pulled me by my arm and headed towards the window. He climbed out with no problem. I stuck one leg out but my jeans got stuck in the broken glass.

"My leg!" I hollered.

"Come on come on." he tried pulling me out but it was to deep.

"Freeze! don't make a move!" the police stomped in.

One grabbed my arm but i elbowed him in the face accidentally. "Im so sorry!"

"No time to say sorry come on!" Jason demanded.

Finally I managed to get my leg out

Good thing we were on the first level it was easier to run out. I couldn't even think about my leg being in pain. Now that I practically assaulted a police I was probably wanted too.

I ran behind him and ended up in the dark foggy woods. He must've done something horrible if helicopters were following.

Though it was dark and rainy I could still see the bright red and blue sirens getting closer.

We ran so far that we reached a lake and the helicopters were still in the sky looking for us. Jason ran in the lake but I stood at the edge.

"Come on!" he screamed.

"I-I can't swim..." I looked down and rubbed my arm.

"Well good luck." he began swimming.

"No! please don't leave me!"

Jason paused and turned around. "Please.." I begged.

It took a long sigh for him to finally come to drag me in. I clung to him because of my fear of drowning. "Hold your breath" he whispered then pulled us both under the water.

Though I was under water, I could still hear and see the helicopter flash its blinding light over the lake. Good thing the lake was thick enough for them not see us.

It passed by and I quickly went to the surface desperate for air. That was so close! he pulled me the rest of the way to the other side of that lake.

As the water shallowed I began walking on my own until I got to the solid ground.

Jason sat near the lake and took off his shoes and his shirt to squeeze out the water. I tried not to look at his bare chest, I was just to busy pacing.

"Great just great. Now we are wanted for what you did. we have no where to go and nothing to to eat."

"Me? you're the smart ass who elbowed a cop don't forget that!" he growled.

"Well you're the one who kidnapped me!"

"You should have never stuck your nose is something that wasn't your business."

I stopped the argument there because I knew he was right, if I had never been so curious he would've never saw me. Not like I had somewhere to go then. Knowing that my mom wasn't there to love me and care for me was killing me slowly.

"Can we just get somewhere to sleep please?" I eased out my tone.

"I got this now come on." He said putting on his shirt, shoes and jacket. There was no other option right now but to follow him.

The walk was quiet the only thing you heard was the crunching of the leaves and tree branches that we were stepping on.

"Hazel, my name is hazel." I guess that was a good way to start a conversation.

"Yeah thanks for telling me 30 minutes later. I once had a cousin named hazel" he chuckled.

"Yeah?"

"Yup!" he said plopping the p. "hated her."

"Oh..." Did he intend to be this rude? I began rubbing my arm nervously again, it was a habit of mine. I usually do it when Im uncomfortable or scared.

We managed to walk down the woods far enough till we found a big neon colored sign that said 'motel'.

"Ahh, Motel this is convenient." He said sarcastically stoping in the parking lot.

"Yeah but how're we going to get a room?"

"See them?" Jason pointed to a motel room where it looked like the people were getting ready to check out. I nodded.

"You're going to act like you work there and ask them for the key."

"What?! but how?"

"Think of something." he pushed me closer to the strangers.

Looking back at him he gave me a thumbs up and signaled me to go further.

I proceeded. "Uh excuse me!" they turned around and looked me like I was crazy. "Hi um I'm the managers um....daughter and he asked me to ask you for the key before you leave." I smiled innocently hoping they would fall for it.

"Hm I thought the manager was a she?" the person questioned.

I was stuck I didn't know what to say.
