Chapter 3

I heard a noise. I looked at the clock, it read '3:20am' I checked my phone, it was off, I checked my iPod. 'Sean--Hey u awake?' I unlocked my iPod and responded 'I am now. Wt is it' I got a quick response. 'Sry but can you txt Kyle--Sean says limlmnss--plz thx' I read the text over again. 'Y can't u' it took a bit longer for his reply 'um nvm see u tomorrow, nite' I was confused. Deeply confused. I fell asleep in the next 10 minutes.

"Hey!" I approached her.

"Do you feel it?" She asked nervously.

I remembered how no one was home. "Y-yes I think so"

"I don't like it, it's not right."

We walked out together and stayed in a group. Then Rachel suddenly asked "What's going on?"

"I don't know" I answered

"Something's wrong" Was Alex's answer.

We were by the door Rachel and I came in and saw it was raining. I then saw Kyle and Sean approach the building on their bikes.

"FINALLY" We breathed in unison.

They came in and we walked to the lockers.

"Guys, no one was home at my house. Our stuff was ready but lights off, no one there. I'm worried." I tried my best to say without shaking.

"Same here, but I found a note" Kyle explained "I got up and on the fridge there was this" he handed me a paper. It read 'Kyle, go to school. Everyone is fine, nothing wrong. There is a major storm coming and the city asked most parents to get supplies. DO NOT turn on any lights, use candles. Yes, candles. We never use them anymore but use CANDLES. Real ones not fake. Tell four of your closest friends to stay at your house. The city wants more kids together so when the storm hits they are closer to one area. Stay at school until they let you leave.

"Ok, no need to worry, no need to panic, no need, no need." I tried to calm myself. "I CANT STAY CALM" Rachel grabbed me and pulled me to the floor in her lap. "OMG STORM. WE ARE GOING TO DIE. RACHEL, RACHEL!" I covered my face and curled into a ball.

"She has a fear of storms. And well, long story." Rachel explained.We went to homeroom.

Alex was in our homeroom. We sat and more kids walked in. The teacher walked in and explained most of what is going on. The bell rang and we went along our day nervously and quietly. We went to lunch and sat together. Again Kyle and Mitch sat next to me and I felt my necklace burn and sting my chest. I never knew it could hurt. Love hurts I guess.

"So Kyle are we staying at your house?" I asked.

"Yeah, um, I guess." He answered.

"I think we are all equally nervous" Rachel added.

"Tonight's going to be fun?" Sean attempted to ease the tension.

"I guess" Alex said quietly.

"Yeah," Rachel and I said in unison.

Kyle nodded.

We ate in silence. And went to recess. No one was doing anything but whispering among themselves. Dylan came over to us with Nick.

"Hey" Nick said coolly.

Dylan flipped his hair.

"Hey" Alex breathed.

"Hi" Rachel said as she and Nick locked eyes.

"Hey dudes" Sean and Kyle said.

We talked until recess was over and went on with the school day.

After our last class we met at Rachel's locker.

"Ok um, I guess we ride our bikes home?" Kyle asked as calmly as possible.

Rachel, Alex, Sean, and I nodded in unison.
