Hoseok sighed, slamming his locker shut. He had too much on his mind, and he needed to clear it.
He made his way to the meadow behind the school. He hadn't visited it in a long time. He tried not to. But his heart yearned to see it. To revel in the memories. To remember the times when he was truly happy.
He made his way past the trees, and the grass slowly seemed to be getting longer and longer. He caught sight of something among the grass.
Curiosity getting the better of him, he walked further to see that it wasn't something, but it was someone.
But it wasn't just anyone...
The boy was lying in the grass, eyes closed, hands resting on his stomach, with his schoolbag lying next to him. His eyes fluttered open when he heard the sound of the grass rustling as Hoseok moved through it.
The boy got up quickly, grabbing his bag. His eyes started tearing up, the sight of Hoseok rekindling many memories he didn't want to remember. Hoseok's mouth opened. His hand lifted on reflex, wanting to reach out to the boy. Wanting to touch him. To hold him. He wanted to say something. He wanted to stop the boy from leaving. He wanted to explain. To tell him everything. He didn't want to seem the way he knew he did in the boy's eyes.
The boy made his way through the grass, clutching his bag in his hands. He stopped beside Hoseok for a second. His eyes scanning the brown-haired boy's eyes as if searching for something..for some emotion.
But he found none.
He walked past Hoseok, breaking out into a run as he tried to leave the meadow as fast as possible.. to leave the pain as fast as possible.
Hoseok's mouth closed, and his hand dropped back down to his side. He let himself drop to the ground. He laid down in the same spot as the boy who had left.
He couldn't afford to talk to the boy. He would have to live as a monster in the boy's eyes.
In the end, he was still a coward.
A tear rolled horizontally, down his upper cheek. He almost regretted coming to the meadow, the memories being too overwhelming to handle.

Hoseok lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. His mind was muddled with thoughts.
He swallowed hard, as he made a decision. Taking his phone, he tapped on the only name in his contacts. He heard a click after the second ring.
"I want to see you." The words came out strained.
Disconnecting the call, he let his hand fall back to his side.
"One last time before you hate me."

"Hoseok!" The boy ran up to the said male, his eyes clouded with worry.
"What happened to you?" His fingers traced what was left of the red mark on Hoseok's cheek. Hoseok pulled the boy's hand away from his face. "I..got in a fight."
"Wh-"
"Let's.. not talk about it, please?"
The boy nodded reluctantly. The two headed over to their favourite spot in the grass, before sitting down.
"Why did you want to see me?"
Hoseok looked at the boy, taking in his features. He wanted to remain in the moment forever. He took in the boy's features, which were perfect to him.
He didn't know how he was going to do it. He knew that even if he explained everything, the boy wouldn't allow him to give up on them.
But he was scared. He was confused.
'He wouldn't understand.'
He thought of how much he loved the boy. They were each other's escape. The boy slowly leaned in, placing a reassuring kiss on Hoseok's lips, as if to say: whatever it was that was bothering him, could be worked out. Hoseok couldn't resist. His lips moved in sync with the boy's.
'If not, I'll kill that despicable creature myself.' His mother's voice echoed in his head.
He broke the kiss, pulling away from the boy.
He had to do it. To protect him.
"I-I can't do this anymore."
The boy's eyes widened. "Wh-what do you mean?"
"I mean what i said." Hoseok stood up. His eyes started prickling as tears threatened to come out of hiding. He turned away from the boy and he started to run, ignoring the calls of the boy, as he tried to leave the meadow as fast as possible.. to leave the pain as fast as possible.
Hoseok ran and ran, tears streaming down his cheeks. He finally stopped once he was far away enough from the boy. His lungs burned and his head spun. He fell to the ground, sobbing, feeling sorry for himself. Feeling sorry for the boy he loved.
"I'm sorry, Yoongi."
"For being a coward."
-----X-----
