"Hey Dylan," I reply, trying to seem unfrazzled. He's wearing a green t-shirt with the words 'Heart Break' written on them in black letters. He's wearing blue shorts and his curls are like little dark haloes.

"You want to sit down?" asks Lola. What the heck Lola, no! I mean he's cute and all but still, he was flirting with random girls at break and lunch.

"Sure." Crabsicles. He sits beside me and I shuffle closer to the wall. The seat we're at is in the very corner of the cafe and there are two little benches beside the square table. My back and left shoulder are pressed against the walls. Lola sits opposite me without having to sit next to anyone.

"Dylan!" shouts a voice from outside. The little bell jingles again and a guy in red shorts and a grey top comes running in and stops beside our table. "And who are these lovely ladies?" he asks, eyebrows raised, cocky-gentleman style.

"I'm Lola and this is my best friend Skye," she says. "You wanna sit down?" Really Lola...again? I know this guy, he's Zach Garcia. He's the most popular kid at Carstelson Intermediate. Dylan only joined school today, that means that Dylan has befriended the most popular kid in the school in one day...wonderful.

"Sure." He sits beside Lola and she turns a deep shade of crimson...oh Lola. "My name's Zach by the way," he says, flashing a teenage-American heartthrob smile at Lola, who now looks ready to fall to the ground.

"What are you doing here Zach?" asks Dylan.

"Just wanted to know if you're coming to the beach party or not?" he says. Beach party?

"Yeah, for sure dude."

"Good," replies Zach. He looks at Lola, then at me. "It's my birthday tomorrow, do you girls want to come? It starts at twelve on Balster Bay..." he says, scribbling on a little piece of paper with a pen that was lying on the table.

He hands it to Lola. "We'd lov_" starts Lola, before I kick her in the shin. Her eyes fill with tears and she sends me a menacing look. "First let me ask Skye," she says, fluttering her eyes at Zach.

Zach looks amused at this whole ordeal and so does Dylan. "We'll just leave you two alone, call me ok?" says Zach, as he stands up and pulls Dylan out of the cafe.

"My cocoa!" screams Dylan and I burst out laughing. The waitress lady looks flustered and crosses out something on her little notepad.

"We have to go!" cries Lola. Well, I personally don't want to go to a beach party wearing my swimming costume when every other girl will be wearing bikinis. "Pleeeaaase."

"Lola, do you really want to go to Zach's birthday party? I mean, he does have sort of a bad boy reputation..." I say.

"I really really really want to go!" she says, pulling out her puppy dog eyes. Ahh, not the puppy dog eyes! God dang it, why do they have to be so cute? I can't say no to that...

"Fine."

"Yay!" she cries and starts doing a happy dance. Oh, Lord...

"Just don't expect me to wear a bikini, ok?" She nods and takes a deep breath...

"We're going to Zach Garcia's party!" she yells. Heads turn to look at us and my cheeks go red; Lola's too happy to notice anything. I seriously could drop dead and she wouldn't even notice.

We finish the cocoa and we go our separate ways and head home. Lola waves to me as she turns the corner and I keep on waving until she's just a speck in the distance. The gate swings shut behind me and I knock on the door. Cole opens the door and yanks me inside.
