"Gary?"It was a voice in Gary's dream, but he only shuffled a bit in his sleep."G, c-come on, it's morning..." The voice came again.
"Why do you always stay up so late?! My bedtime is 7:30 at night, not 3 in the morning..."
Gary's eyes opened a tiny bit as he was awoken. He rubbed his eyes and groped the fabric next to him for a few seconds, trying to reach for his thick glasses, before finding them and quickly putting them on.
"Hey, you're awake!" Rookie was standing over him with a big smile on his beak. "Good morning, G!"
"Good morning, agent Rookie..." Gary murmured a few seconds later, stretching little dark blue flippers before shuffling out of the pillow he was sleeping in and slowly sliding off a larger couch designed for larger types of penguins. He wasn't too happy to be woken up...
"Um, I got you some coffee..." Rookie looked at the little blue penguin, barely a third of a metre waddling over to the small coffee machine a in the corner of the room. Gary looked back at Rookie, who was holding a takeaway coffee cup in outstretched flippers. "My mama told me it was rude to wake people this morning, so, I wanted to make up for it..."
He went back over and stood on the tips of his feet to grab the large coffee cup usually for larger types of penguins, but his mind hadn't properly started yet to understand he probably couldn't drink all of this. He almost struggled to lift it.
"It's a bit big, sorry, you can drink that, can't you?"
"Of course I can..." Gary spoke in a slightly hoarse voice and lifted the large cup to sip some deeply to try and wake up.
"So, um... I came here for that motor you made!" Rookie announced with a shy smile. "Is it done yet?!"
"I'll show you..." Gary took his coffee over to one of his lab benches, built for penguins of normal height, but he had a few lengthy steps surrounding it so he could properly use it.
"Your lab's kind of weird, all your equipment is so small..." Rookie commented, picking up a small delicate wrench from the lab bench. Gary took it from his flipper and quickly used it to screw something onto a small device he was making.
Aaand, done!" Gary held it up to Rookie in his flippers, a small complex mechanism. A small motor!
"I'd say this is some of my finest handiwork yet, actually..."
"Woah, you actually did it!" Rookie took the small device with a grin. "It's so intricate, too..."
"Thank you!" Gary puffed out his chest and took another deep sip of his coffee before quickly taking the device from his hand. "Let me attach it..."
Rookie leaned his head down so Gary could stand on the tips of his feet to carefully attach the small motor to the propeller on his hat...
"The Propeller Spinner 3000! Give it a go, I want to see how it goes..." Gary rubbed his flippers eagerly while Rookie pressed a button on the small motor.
The propeller on his cap shortly began to spin, and within a few seconds he was flowing a few centimetres in the air. Rookie of course, loved this.
"Wowowow, G....!" Rookie grinned and did a midair spin.
"It's no problem, if it has any problems, come to me, alright?"
"Okay!"
