We moved into position, our section was positioned atop a few shops dotted around overlooking the hospital, we aborted the idea of taking the building nearer, as too many meb in one place is never good. We had an assortment of long-range weapons. I myself was armed with an SKS, a semi auto rifle with a scope thrown on top. Making sure I was zeroed in correctly I called out my target, having permission to fire I let one fly. It hit the target through their leg, they then dropped behind a shop and started returning fire. My spotter shot a BB at his head, knocking him out. Then the fireworks began.
A few groups crawled out of the woodwork and closed in from different directions. They were armed with baseball bats and wrenches as we weren't trying to have any fatalities. As 2 men stormed the side entrances others followed, within minutes we saw the flashing of gunfire then a rattling of it. After an extremely tense 10 minutes we saw someone run out with a briefcase. Guarded by 3 armed men he was soon followed by a few of our 'melee specialists'. I switched targets and fired about 5-6 rounds at the guy running. The guards stopped and one fell, the briefcase guy stumbled but didn't stop. Out of nowhere. A literal pop of gore and brain spattered everywhere. One of the guards went for the case but I cut him down with a few rounds. Looking down my scope at another of the guards I saw a hefty swing at his head from a wrench. The other one ran for the briefcase, only to be cut down by gunfire from the right.
I swung my scope and squeezed the but my gun merely clicked. watching in horror I reached for my pistol as he shot at our other man. He ducked behind a wall and i managed to get some suppressive fire on the guard while our man moved up. Horror filled my body as he slipped and fell. He swiftly got up and ran toward the guard. A well felt crack over the head left me hyperventilating in relief. Our man ran for the case and laid over it. Our section started to shuffle and we were ordered to move down and help out. I jumped down off the building and sprinted as fast as my legs would let me. My back hit one of the buildings just as i started to hear gunfire. Someone lit a flare and the whole area illuminated. He threw it up and shortly after the gunfire ceased. 'Bravo' came out from behind their hospital and we discussed exfil.
Shortly after we all shouldered arms and started running towards our base. We hadn't got our hands on any sort of vehicle yet, unfortunately. We got back and the cure was administered to those who needed it. I ran to find Alice and we waved our goodbyes to the group, completely kitted with new gear. We ran up over the hill and set up a camp in the forest nearby. Laid in our sleeping bags we fell into a dark slumber.
