You know, it's now that I realise how great being short is. Running through a crowd of people is so easy. I mean you're able to duck under and through people legs. Oh and by duck, I mean crawl. And by running I mean crawling on my hands and knees praying to god that I don't get stepped on.
Anyway, I bet your wondering WHY and more importantly HOW, well I'll be glad to share with you.
Oh shit...
I looked him up and down. Yep. It was most definitely him not a wall. His brown milk chocolate eyes met my dark blue. He combed his fingers through his brown hair. His aftershave smelled sweet and intoxicating.
"Sorry." I blurted out before dropping on my hands and knees and disappeared into the crowd of people.
So, now that you're all caught up, I'd really appreciate it if I could focus on crawling because I have almost been stepped on twice now. The second bell sounded and it was like magic how feet disappeared from in front of me. I was alone in a hallway, on my hands and knees with no one around me, can't say that I'm not a little embarrassed.
My day went by pretty quickly. I mean I focussed in all my classes so they went by pretty fast. Although, it was tricky in between classes because I didn't want to be seen by a certain someone but I managed. The biggest issue of the day was getting home because my brother was supposed to be taking me and we hadn't sorted anything out. I assumed it was the same routine as this morning so I just walked two blocks away from school around the corner and went down a narrow dark alley way.
Thankfully my intuition was correct. In fact, my brother was already waiting for me with the safe haven that was his black ute. He was leaning against the driver side door and when he saw me coming, he jumped in. What? No welcome back or how was school. It didn't really faze me so I jumped in after him. We sat there in silence before a question slipped my lips.
"How long?" I asked
At first he just looked at me dumb founded.
"How long till what?""How long is he working for? When does he start? Y'know How long?"
"He starts tomorrow, mum's already agreed. He'll be working there until he quits."
"Until he quits huh?"
"Yep. Oh and before you even think of it, you can't make him quit." he smirked at me.
"Oh yeah and why's that?" I questioned
"Because mum already said you can't"
I tried to gather up my thoughts, tried to think of a snarky comment, but I couldn't. No matter how much I wanted to my brain was out of ideas.
"Oh and before you even think about it. He has a girlfriend." A massive sadistic smile spread across his face as I cringed.
"I wouldn't even dream of it." I informed him
"Really. He is pretty attractive and I mean his pretty lon-"
"Just drive!" I cut him off.
"Fine." That was the last thing he said before we headed home
By the time we had gotten home it was pouring rain. Mathew attempted to park his ute as close to the house as possible. The rain rivers trickled down the wind screen and the pitter patter on the ute's metal roof made me want to fall asleep. Suddenly a cold gust of air sent a shiver down my spine.
"Are you going to get out yet?" My inconsiderate brother questioned.
"Yeah...Yeah." I shrugged it off.
