A few hours later, I was inside the pound with my rescuer. He was a tall, gangly, brown-haired man named Mike. He had helped me up after locking Thorn in a cage which, unbeknownst to him, was perfect, because if the beta even tried to phase, he would be sliced into millions of pieces. Then he had bandaged my still-bleeding arm and asked me for my guardian's phone number. One thing lead to another, and I ended up walking home with Splash, who had left his interview in a hurry after receiving Mike's call. He probably wasn't going to get the job, but he didn't care what occupation he acquired as long as he could keep an eye out on his pack at the same time.
Back in camp territory, we found Bluebell with Flint, Coal, their mother Ginger, and the two lycanthropes Mira and Felix, who had disagreed with Thorn a few days beforehand and woken up the next day stuck in a cave. I told the pack about how I outwitted the old beta and was then treated like a hero.
And what happened to Thorn?
Well, we never saw him again.
