FOUR YEARS AFTER THE HOLY WAR
-Lucy P.O.V-
The sun shone brightly through the lace curtains of my bedroom window. I squinted my eyes, still tired from the night before. As soon as I attempted to move, I felt my stomach ache terribly just as it had done the whole of yesterday. Why do they call it morning sickness when it hits you every time of the day?
"Morning, your highness!"
I didn't need to look towards the door to know who it was.
"Morning, Lilia," I greeted, stretching my arms out. "Where's Natsu?"
"He got up early and went hunting with Lord Fullbuster," she replied, pulling open the curtains.
"Hunting? That's a first," I added, sitting up. "It felt weird waking up alone."
"Aw, is my queen lonely without her king?" Lilia joked. I scowled at her as I threw open the covers and climbed out of bed.
"We already had something planned today. Could you contact him and tell him to come back?"
"Um...his majesty said you would say that, so he cut off all communication..." Lilia muttered.
"Well, he can't cut off her," I replied. "Deivina, tell Natsu to come home immediately."
"Yes, creator."
"Did she reply?" Lilia asked. I nodded, smiling back at her. Her eyes widened and dazzled.
"I would love to have an assistant like that in my head. It would be so useful!" She chirped.
She just called a god an assistant...I thought to myself, staring at her happy oblivious face.
"Creator, Natsu is choosing to not respond."
I clenched my fists, already agitated at such an early hour.
"That man's in for it now..." I muttered. "I'll be right back, Lilia. Watch my body for me."
After four years, Lilia had adjusted to this order. Whenever I entered the subconscious field, my body was left unconscious. It left Lilia uneasy at first, but after seeing me waking up only minutes after every time, she got used to it.
"Deivina, send Natsu and I into the subconscious field," I ordered.
"As you wish, creator."I opened my eyes again, and the first thing I spotted was my two (soon to be three) year old son, Nathaniel, sitting in Deivina's lap.
"N-Nate?!" I cried, my eyes wide. "Deivina, what is he doing here?"
"Entering the subconscious field can be done by possessing a desire," Deivina explained. One of the conditions of taking possession of Deivina was that all of your children would possess her power as well. This meant that Nathaniel could hear Deivina and could enter a subconscious field, and so would the child I was pregnant with. Nate laughed and tugged on Deivina's hair, all while she stared with no expression.
"Nathaniel often possess a desire," she added.
Natsu appeared soon after, reminding me of why I was here.
"What the hell are you playing at?!" I shouted, storming towards him. "Don't think you can get away with ignoring me!"
"L-Lucy! You just made me pass out in the middle of a forest!" He yelled back. His whole body shivered at the thought. "Who knows what Gray'll do to me..."
"You should be more worried about what I'm gonna do!" I argued. "We were planning Nate's third birthday today, and Erza needs us to run down some plans for fairy tail's new training ground. You have responsibilities, you know!"
Natsu rubbed the back of his neck, and appeared very flustered.
"Yeah, I know..." he mumbled, refusing to look me in the eye.
"Natsu," I began. "What is it?"
"It's just...you said we have another baby coming, right?" He began. In situations like this, Natsu had the mentality of a child. I had fallen pregnant again recently, and Natsu refused to listen to the 'details'. All he knows is that there will be another child in nine months.
"Well, last time you said Nate was coming..." Natsu murmured further. "Well...you got super cranky! And I don't wanna have to put up with it again!"
I blinked, unable to find the words to respond to him. I breathed deeply, trying to relax myself, but it was like trying to pour water on a volcano."YOU'VE BEEN IGNORING ME JUST CAUSE I'M HORMONAL?!" I screamed, jumping on top of him and pinning him to the floor.
"See?! Here's the crankiness!" He shouted back, fending me off.
"I spend every minute of every day making up for the work you fail to complete, all because I love you and I'm your wife and I'm supposed to be there for you, but is it really worth it? Maybe I don't love you after all, maybe this is my brain's way of telling me to stop the suffering, and yet I'm the queen so I can't run from my responsibilities, and you're there for me even when I don't realize, so I should really be thanking you, and using the work I do as a way of making up for how you helped me, yet I'm always complaining like an idiot, and you don't deserve such horrible treatment..." my rant faded into a depressing monologue, as I burst into tears in Natsu's arms. He sighed, and stroked my hair.
"Right, here we go...don't worry Lucy, I'm here for you," he said with an awkward smile.
"You've always been here for me!" I sobbed in return. "That's why...it's so hard..."
"Deivina, you can let us go now," Natsu muttered. "Lucy, have some breakfast and calm down. I'll see you when I get back, okay?"
I nodded, wiping my dribbling nose.
