After the doctor’s appointment and a quick run to the pharmacy for Sherlock’s vitamins and some of John’s nausea medication, they came home to an empty flat but the filling feeling of another presence in the room besides the two of them.

“John?” Sherlock asked as they made their way into the room only for the detective to stop and look to John who was right beside him.

“Yes Sherlock?” John responded.

“I’m pregnant?” He asked in a questionable tone that only made John laugh. He guessed Sherlock had to get used to saying it, letting it sink in that he really was carrying another life; another branch to the Watson-Holmes family tree.

John kissed his husband’s cheek before stroking the spot where he set his lips. “Yes, you are. Now you know how I felt.” The blogger joked. The detective gave a half-smile before pressing his palm to John’s hand, loving the feeling and heat on his body.

“Take your vitamins and I’ll take my meds then laying down for a nap. Let me know if you need anything, like reassurance that you’re pregnant, let me know and I’ll be more than glad to help you.” John kissed Sherlock on the lips before setting his hand to the back of his neck and rubbing it in thought. He heaved himself into the bed and pulled the covers up to his chin, quickly dozing off to sleep.

Sherlock was left alone with his thoughts and the thoughts of the being that was growing within him. Him and John created this little human and he loved it from the very beginning, even before they thought about having another baby.

“Well this is uhh…certainly awkward. Umm…” Sherlock started, talking to nothing before looking down to his stomach and rubbing his waist. “Hello little one, I might as well introduce myself since we’ll be together for the next nine months. You should probably know that I wasn’t supposed to be the one to carry you. Your papa was, but papa is very sick and very weak and wouldn’t be able to handle carrying you around little one. I took over because I love papa and I love you. I’m your daddy, err, mommy in this situation. Anyways, I hope you know that you are loved and that nothing will ever hurt you. We love you little one.” Sherlock smiled and rubbed the bottom of his stomach where his child rested. He thought it was weird talking to something that didn’t even have ears yet, but it had a heart and it was strong enough to take hold in the detective’s body. He admired the small being because it had resilience and already showed signs of not giving up without a fight.

“That was adorable!” John shouted from the bedroom; Sherlock turning a bright shade of pink.

“Oh shut up!” Sherlock shouted back with John chuckling from behind the close door. Sherlock blew a sigh from his mouth, moving a curl from his forehead in the process. In secret, Sherlock smiled at the thought of his baby and sharing it with none other than his husband.

The detective was found by his blogger snuggled up on the couch covered up to his chin with a blanket and snoring lightly. John smiled and kissed Sherlock’s curls before making himself a cuppa and taking the multitude of medication he had stockpiled in the bathroom.

After the last handful, he felt the familiar arms of his husband wrap around his shoulders and squeeze him lightly before kissing his cheek and get himself a cuppa as well. He sat across from John and took a sip from the cup with a slurping noise.

“Did you have a good nap?” John asked with a smile before taking another sip of his tea. Sherlock shrugged his shoulders then nodded his head. “It was okay, I was just really tired.”

“Yeah, well, get used to that.” John responded.

“Well how did you sleep?” Sherlock asked. John bit his lip in thought before looking to the detective with a weary smile. “It was okay. Besides getting up every so often to throw up, I actually had a decent nap. Thank you.” John took another sip of his tea before clearing his throat of the nasty taste of his meds then leaning back in his chair with a sigh.
