The Mansion

I felt someone shake me and calling my name softly. "Jessy, Honey, wake up! We're landing in half an hour." My mom said and quit shaking me.

I strechted, as much as is possible on a plane in economy class, got up and went to the bathroom. When I got back breakfast was being served.

All of a sudden butterflies erupted in my stomach. What would our new house look like? What would school be like? What were the people like? Would I find friends? All this kept running through my mind as we landed smoothly, got off the plane, collected our bags and went outside to wait for the guy who had sold the house to us and would help us settle in.

The airport hadn't been very different from the one at home, but as soon as we got outside I caught my breath. It was the 22nd of November and of course it had been snowing, wrapping everything into a blanket of fluffy whiteness.

"It's beautiful" I breathed.

"Yeah, and freaking cold" my twin brother Jesse added, shivering despite his thick warm winterjacket.

My mom was about to tell Jesse to watch his language, when a big, black, shiny limousine stopped in front of us and a tall, muscular, not-so-bad-looking man stepped out, walked towards my father with determined strides, introduced himself as Jason Black and said: "I take it you are the Mallson family?"

"Yes. I am Gunnar, this is my wife Shekinah and my two children Jesse and Jessy" my dad introduced us, gesturing to us as he named us. We all murmured quiet "hellos" and "nice-to-meet-yous".

"It's a pleasure" he answered and gestured for us to enter the limousine. Jesse grinned at me wickedly and got in, me close behind him.

"Wow!" he exclaimed, as we got in. Inside were two comfy-looking sofas facing each other, in-between a small table. At the back was a fridge which contained all sorts of drinks and snacks. On the opposite side was a small flat-screen TV, currently on the cartoon network.

Jason saw me and my brother looking at the TV with big eyes and grinned sheepishly.

"I love cartoons" he said, giving my parents a sideways glance. Jesse and I burst out laughing, but quickly tried to stiffle it at the look our mother gave us.

"No problem! We are number one cartoon fans" I said to him, a huge grin on my face. Jason smiled at us, but then turned to our parents.

"We will be arriving at your mansion in about five minutes."

Mansion? This was news to me. Well yes, we weren't the poorest people and our house in California had been quite big, but a mansion? I looked at Jesse, who looked just as confused as I was, but we had no time to talk about this, because at that moment the car stopped and the door opened.

Of course Jesse and I were the first to jump out, as to see our new home. We both froze in our tracks as we took in the first sight of the mansion.
