Josh walked alongside the street with his hands in his pockets as his head was hung low. No matter how much he wanted Emilia to stay with him and his wife at any cost, he knew she would be in better protection in Andy's care than his, although it should be the other way around. Emilia's parents knew where he lived, meaning at a certain amount of days they'll come barging into his house if she did live with him. And it wasn't like he couldn't visit her anymore.
Andy and her were both on two week suspension and every time Josh got out of work he could visit the two of them or send his wife a call to visit them. He and his wife were both adults and the two of them were still children in his eyes, they still needed protection from parents though Josh didn't know what happened to Andy's parents to make him live alone at his age when the rightful time to move out was either seventeen or eighteen years of age.
The sky had a color shade of gray and black, the moon coming up and the sun going down as Josh stepped a foot on his fresh mowed lawn. He grabbed the keys from his pocket, unlocked the door and warm feeling of his house welcomed him once he stepped foot into his lovely house. He took his shoes off on the mat and walked over to the kitchen where his wife stood, making their supper for the night.
He could smell the pizza in the oven as his wife washed the dishes, softly humming a song. He stared at the features of his wife. She had a large belly with a baby inside her, black wavy hair that went in the palm of her back, and she had black eyes that suited her perfectly. He smiled a little as he walked past her, opened the pastry and grabbed a muffin only to have a spoon thrown at him.
Josh raised an eyebrow, slowly turning around to look at his beautiful wife and put the muffin back down. It was his wife that clearly threw the spoon at him and she had a frown planted on her lips. "How many times do I have to tell you not to eat food before supper?" She asked. "Next time you try to do so, I'll spoon your eyes out!" She added, a spoon in her hands again as she faced him.
The blue-haired man softly laughed as he looked at his wife. She was always serious of not eating eating before supper, it was probably how she raised but Josh wasn't going to judge her. He closed the pastry, walked over to wife as he put his hands on her hips to lean down and kiss her but he was stopped when she put her hand on his face. "Uh, no. Remember last time you kissed me in the kitchen? Days later I found out a human was living inside me."
He laughed at the sudden memory and decided not to kiss her until she grabbed his cheeks and smashed his lips into hers then pushed him away after slapping his butt awfully loudly. He blushed before walking up the stairs to change clothes.
His wife was always like this even when they were dating and that's what he loved about her. She never changed and Josh figured she would never do so even when their child is born. He was worried about being a father at first but his beautiful wife had soothed him and now he couldn't wait to be a father.
His thoughts drifted off from behind a father back to Emilia and Andy, he wondered if she was awake now and talking to Andy to who knows what. She was like his daughter, considering that he was her father figure, but to Josh, she would always be his daughter even if she liked it or not. Letting out a sigh, he fixed the hem of his shirt and fixed his batman pajamas and walked downstairs where his wife was getting the pizza out of the oven and onto the table.
He smiled at his wife as he pulled a chair out for her and when she sat down, he gently pushed her in, carefully enough not to hurt her belly. He leaned down, kissed the top of her head before taking the seat in front of her, picking up a slice of pizza and taking a bite out of it.
It was silent between the two of them as they ate since both their mouths were filled with food. His wife looked at him a couple of times but didn't say anything as Josh stared at her back with the same look she was giving him; he swallowed and murmured, "Why are you giving me that look? What, do I have something on my face?" He touched his face with his fingers all over.
She laughed. "Yeah, ugliness." She shot back. "What I was wanting to say is, what's wrong with Emilia? I heard you murmuring her name when you suddenly left the house earlier ago."
She knew all about Emilia's abusive parents and hated it, in fact she wanted to go straight up to court and tell them all about it but the only thing the parents will do is pack up and leave the state without warning. They did it before and probably will do it again; they would do anything not to caught and get put in jail. Her parents were pathetic, everyone knew that about them. They were cowards for putting their anger out on their own child, sometimes Josh wished he could do something but no matter what he did it would never be enough.
Yes, he was her father figure and that was it. He was only meant to show her what a father was like; loving, caring, protective and supportive unlike the father she had now. It wasn't like he could just take her in his care just like Andy did, Josh was an adult and Andy was still just a kid.
His wife snapped her fingers in front of him. "Hello? I swear, it's like trying to move a Snorlax." She grumbled. "Seriously, what's up with Emilia? I swear if her parents did anything, and I mean anything, to her I'll march up to their raggedy house and beat them up myself. Of course being still pregnant."
Josh laughed, he loved how his wife can be so ambitious. He told her everything that had happened—Emilia being severely abused to the point where she nearly died and in the end, it ended with her moving in with Andy. He technically knew everything about it except the part of why she had wanted to live with Andy.
His wife slammed her fist into the table, her teeth clenching in anger after Josh finished talking. "This cowardly peasants! How dare they try to touch my Emilia!" She growled, suddenly picking up a very sharp knife and lifting it up in the air. "Sorry, Honey, but two people are going to leave this planet once and for all!"
Josh quickly stood up with her, putting his hands on her shoulders and gently getting the knife out of her hands before she could actually do anything stupid. "You won't be stabbing anybody." He put the knife back in the knife drawer as he looked at her. "Give me a legitimate response." And when he noticed the expression on her face, he quickly added; "That doesn't involve stabbing anyone."
She sighed dramatically. "I don't know what to think. Some loser is bound to find out. Suspension for two weeks doesn't last forever. And her ugly parents will find her eventually." She looked to the side and spoke more quietly. "Does that Andy kid know about...?"
"Her sickness?" Josh finished for her. "No. Well, I'm pretty sure Emilia didn't tell him anything about. She isn't normal and I think she wants Andy to know she is. Although Andy isn't exactly normal either."
"He isn't?"
"He's mute."
"Oh." She muttered. "Then how does he communicate to her?"
"Pen and paper." He put his hands on his hips and sighed. "We're getting off topic. I think you should tell Andy about her sickness tomorrow."
"Okay—wait, me? Dude, I'm pregnant and you think that I should walk to wherever his apartment and tell him about Emilia's sickness? What's wrong with you?"
Josh almost cracked a smile. "You can take my car. I'll ask Mark to give me a ride. Oh, and bring food to. Andy looks like he doesn't have decent food in there."
His wife sighed. "Fine. But don't expect there's any food left when I get there."
