The morning I had woken up I felt as if all the worries had dropped from my shoulders but I knew it was still there. I sat up from the couch, rubbing the back of my neck since I woke up from another uncomfortable slumber since Emilia was still sleeping on my bed. It was the second day of suspension and I had work today, meaning I'll leave her alone. She isn't and she wasn't going to work with me again today since she still needed to recover, I didn't care of how much she begged or cried. She wasn't coming with me today. I believe Josh said he'll come later today or his wife would.
I swung my feet to the ground, got up and stretched as I looked over at Emilia; she was still cuddling the gray blanket and she was also still breathing.
I grudgingly made my way over to the kitchen, still rubbing my neck as I did so. I had a box of cereal left in my drawer, I grabbed my milk from the fridge and poured into a bowl. As I ate my cereal, I looked over at Emilia again only to see her awakening from slumber. She sighed before falling back down to sleep again.
I was still convinced she needed to go to the hospital, I wasn't a doctor and I'm sure Josh wasn't either. I grabbed her phone that was lying on the nightstand next to my bed and texted him, telling him that Emilia needed to go see a doctor instead of being in my household - not that I minded her company, anyway but she was probably not going to heal if she doesn't get some medical help soon.
Josh texted me back ten minutes later, saying he was at work at the moment. My heart dropped, I couldn't take her since I don't have a car and I don't talk. Emilia needed help and I wasn't giving it to her.
He double messaged me, saying he'll get off work anyway and take Emilia to the hospital. I let out a small smile and soon it disappeared as it felt too weird for me to move the corners of my mouth. He told his boss something happened at home and he needed to be there, he wasn't going to get fired.
I glanced back at Emilia who was still sleeping peacefully on my bed but I knew the pain was still getting to her.
Just like that Josh walked in my rugged down apartment without knocking first. He told me Emilia was a deep sleeper, she can sleep through anything but I kind of doubted it since she was in major pain.
He picked her up bride style, resting her head on his shoulder but stopped when she groaned and we eventually made it to his car quickly.

Two hours later happened and Josh and I were sitting in the waiting room, I still didn't know why I was doing here. Emilia meant nothing to me, so why am I here? The doctor came back, Josh stood up and went to go talk to him, I still sat on the chair.
Josh nodded at the doctor after giving him a smile and went back to me. "We can go see her, Andy."
I gave a single nod, getting up and walked into the room Emilia was in. She was sitting on the bed watching the TV and I automatically noticed something different about her. She didn't have any hair, her long black hair was missing and no longer there - she looked completely okay with it. Did they have to shave it off?
"She's sick, Andy." Josh whispered in my ear, clutching my shoulder. "She has a deadly disease living in her.:My eyes widened, I didn't expect her to have a deadly disease whatsoever. She must have been wearing a wig, something to keep her from looking different from society. I couldn't blame her, she already had got picked on enough. Still, I wished she would have told me about this.
When she came to my doorstep, all bruised and bloody - clearly she was beaten half to death and she, too, was sick. I was surprised that she was still alive. Maybe it wasn't her time yet.
"Her parents hate her for it." Josh continued. "They wanted a perfect child and when they found out she had, you know, a deadly disease they went crazy. They abused her, humiliated her and made her wish she was never born. It's a miracle she's still alive after all of this."
