There  was  a  week  still left  until the  school  closed, and  Adonai knew  how  he  would  spend  his last week. He could  miss a  day  at  school  and  go  out  skateboarding  or he  could  go  to  his friend’s house and  grab  a  couple  of  beers  while  discussing  politics  and  females. Adonai  wasn't  the  average  school teen  you  get, he  was tall  and  muscular,  soft  brown eyes caramel skin  and  dreadlocks. He  seemed brainless  judging  on  his appearance  but  he  was very  smart indeed, considering  the  fact  he  had  high grades  in  science. But  he  had  one  flaw. He  had  a  crush  on  Maya,  the  teenage  girl  everybody  called weird. Despite  having  a  crush on  her,  Adonai never spoke  to  her.  His  friends always criticized  most females,  especially  Maya.  Adonai decided  that he  could  talk to  Maya  secretly  without  his friend’s knowledge.   In  the  school's library  Maya  sat  alone  with a  science  book  she  couldn't  wait  for  the  week  to  be  over so  she  could  lock  herself up  in her  room  where  no  one  could  bother her.  She  looked  outside  the window  and  caught  a quick  glance  of her reflection,  a  chocolate  brown skinned girl with long  black hair, dark brown eyes  and  a slender  slightly  curvy  body. For  some  odd  reason  she  looked  away disgusted  at  her  own stature. She  decided that  she doesn't  want  to  go  to  school  during  the  last  week, so  she'll  come  up  with  an excuse  to  her  parents. As she  approached the  exit  she  saw  a guy  from  her science  class,  she  wanted  to  remain  unnoticed  but  the  guy  was  coming  her direction. The  guy  was  getting  close  and  Maya  wished  the  world  would  suck  her  in  and  hide  her  from  the face of the  earth.  "Hello,  you're  Maya  right?"  Adonai said  knowing  it  was  her  name.   "Uh-Uhm, Yes  that s...that’s  my  name",  she  nervously  replied.  "I was wondering  if I could  walk  you  home,  we  live  in the same neighborhood",  Adonai said  with  a  grinning  smile. Maya stood  there  with  mixed  emotions  yet motionless. All  this  time  no  one  seemed to  talk  to  her  but  today  her  whole  world  got  flipped upside down.  Maya  saw  herself  walking  now,  she  was  delighted by  Adonai's smile  and  his brown  eyes. "So what do  you  say?"  Adonai  asked. "Yes  I'll  spend  the  day  with you  tomorrow,  "she  managed to answer.   "Thank  you  and  goodbye  Adonai", she  said  with an amused  smile  while  approaching  what she called  the house  of doom.  "No,  it  is  see  you  tomorrow  Adonai", Adonai said  correcting  Maya. She looked  at  him  while  he  ran  down Nessbit  Street. She  pushed  the  door  open  and  her smile  turned into a sad face.  Her family  was  seating  there  watching  TV,  she  greeted them  and  she  received no response.  She  felt  nothing. She  slowly  walked  to  her bedroom  and  as  soon  as  she  got  in  she locked the door shut.  Underneath  her  study  table  lay  a  long  sharp  knife, a  sachet  full of  tablets  and  a masking  tape. She  grabbed  her bottle  of  water  and  drank  the  water  slowly, while  fiddling  through  her school bag. She  found  the  letter  her father gave  her  in  the  morning  and  read  it.  The  first  sentence seemed to shatter her whole world.
