Maya looked into far into the stars and closed her eyes as she continued, "I don't like people a lot and I guess they feel the same way. My dad is a monster, he plays all nice when he is around my mom but his bitter when we are alone. He gave me a letter the other day and it carried the most unbearable words." Maya pulled the letter out and it stated 'You are such a disgrace to this family, you have no manners and you don't deserve to be a part of this family. I could swear you are adopted, you come home late and you have no respect. I don't want a child like you.' Adonai was filled with so much frustration that he cursed. Maya felt the same way but she carried on talking. "Every day when I come from school I inflicted pain on myself and I seem to enjoy it, I'm a suicidal teen Adonai. I feel like I'm not human, I don't seem to have emotions anymore and I don't feel anything anymore, this all because of my upbringing and the society I live in. I'm tired of this life, I want to die. I have nothing to live for anymore." Adonai just lay there shaken, he felt the pain Maya had inside of her and he just couldn't bear what was being said. He stood up and grabbed Maya's hands. She also stood up, he slowly brought her closer and gave Maya the most, warm hearted bear hug. Maya sobbed and she could feel Adonai's heartbeat racing against the past. However, something deeper was felt between the two in that moment. . For the first time in her teen years, Maya felt an upbeat emotion. This upbeat emotion was an intense feeling. It seemed so foreign to her and she was glad she felt it, it came from within. Maya couldn't deny it but she felt happy. She tugged Adonai closer and wrapped her arms around his neck. She whispered something to Adonai that made him feel happier. Adonai told him she felt happy because of him and his eyes were about to shed a tear, but Maya broke the hug and sat on the beach towel now balancing herself with the tree. Adonai grabbed a beer from his backpack and gulped it. Adonai now looked into Maya's eyes and confessed, "I feel connected to you, you're are beautiful and I'm amused by your personality, your eyes hold the Milky Way intact and your smile brings happiness. I know we just met a day ago but I wanted to ask if I can be the stars to your moon Maya was filled with mixed emotions and she uttered a simple question, "Thank you but what exactly are you saying?" "Maya what I'm saying is I'm fond of you. You make me happy and ... well...I-I- I love you Maya", he admitted with only love in his eyes. Maya felt happier, no one ever said these words to her. She wanted to say I love you too. She felt the same way. But she just stood there glancing at the moon and stars. Four simple words she was supposed to say but she didn't.
'I love you too'.
were the words left unspoken.
