No doubt. I was late.
I slowly opened the class door trying to not make noise but this old 1000year old door made this creaky noise to which the whole class got distracted and also interrupting Mrs.brinkman's lecture. She swiftly turned towards me.
"Oh Gwen Miller , it's your very beginning of your senior year and your late?"She asked furiously lifting her eyebrows.
I was definitely not going to say I was late since I was admiring the scenery outside my window.
And so I stood there in an awkward silence front of the class which felt like an hour thinking my brains out for an excuse. And of course I came up with the most stupid one.
"Uh ..I'm late ..cause...I was lost" I replied regretting every single word.
"Oh you lost the school?" She asked in a mocking tone. The class erupted into laughter. Mrs.brinkman made no effort in bringing the class to silence.
"no. I lost the way to school" I said blindly without knowing what exactly I was speaking.
"Ugh get in Gwen"She said exhaustedly and unconvinced. "Let this be the last warning I give you. Your getting a detention the next time"
I nodded with embarrassment.
I headed to the empty seat next to Abby.
She sat there looking gorgeous as always . She looked pretty excited for her a new year of high school, unlike me,This year is going to be as shitty as the last year .She wore a knee-length red frock revealing her toned ass. Light makeup with dark red lipstick. Her long silky hair tied in a neat pony.I've always admired her beauty. It made me feel insecure at times.
"hey" She whispered , scanning my outfit.
Why do people care ,I can't wear miniskirts or tiny frocks and spend the entire day pulling and adjusting it."hey". I whispered back.
I just hate it when I have the class attention, you could see the fake bitches exchanging glances right in front of me and chuckling over nothing .
"Okay folks , I hope everyone is aware that this is your last year of high school. So for your first week you'll be doing activities in pairs to develop your social skills" She says cheerfully clapping her hands together. She behaves like we are a bunch of kindergartners.
Why do they do this to us?
The class begins swearing and moaning .
She claps drawing the class's attention and randomly starts picking people from corners with her hand gestures.
"yes ,Stacey you go with ryan.. quick lazy....we don't have the whole day" .I wait for my turn in disgrace. Imagining how bad the day is going to be.
"And Gwen" here she goes,"...hmm yes Aiden , yeah you go sit next to Aiden".She said with a cheeky smile.Wait.
Aiden? The cute popular basketball guy? I'm not into basket ball or sports in our school but I've heard of him. Girls go crazy for him , girls go crazy over all sweaty players.
I turn around to see how he reacts to have a jerk like me as his partner.Surprisingly he was smiling, He gave this wide charming smile as he looked at me. In which I could feel my stomach doing the chicken dance.
I walked to him with my head down and sat next to him. He's got silky blonde hair and wide hazel eyes. He wore a tight white shirt marking his muscles and skinny jeans.
Never thought this school has got hot dudes."Hey . I'm Aiden Collins"he said as he let out his hand for a handshake. With that smile again. I noticed his right shoulder arm was covered with tattoos.
"I know. I'm Gwen." I replied trying my best not to look creepy with that weird smile I had since the time I saw him today.
We stayed silent for a while . The entire class was silent .
Socialising ain't that easy.I took the chance to study his face.
He looked troubled and stressed over something. He suddenly turned to me and caught me staring. I looked away quickly , I felt my cheeks blushing.I saw Abby in a deep conversation with her partner.
'Speak something .idiot ' I mentally slapped myself."So how's ur basketball team doing?"I asked breaking the silence.
"Basket ball? I don't play basketball" he replied in a doubtful face.
"I'm a football player"
Oops.
