Time is a funny thing. It left quickly when you are having or having an enjoyable time but departs very slowly when you are bored or facing great peril. Hermione fiddled with a loose piece of hair as Professor Slughorn ( the new potions teacher) explained things about the Felix Felicis. Since Hermione had read about it in her 3rd year, she was prompt as usual on answering questions.

Just then, Harry and Ron, who were missing all morning burst through the door.

"Oh, uh sorry professor." They rushed their words and they were panting heavily.

"Oh it's fine, come sit down. If you don't have a book there are some in the cupboard." He said irritatedly. Hermione rolled her eyes as she saw the 2 boys fighting over something near the cupboard.

"Now, can someone summarise what - oh Miss Granger?" Hermione's hand shot up before he could even finish his question.

"Felix Felicis, or liquid luck, is a magical potion that makes the drinker lucky for a period of time, during which everything they attempt will be successful. The drinker must use it sparingly as large amount of consumption can be highly toxic." The definitions rolled out of her tongue.

"Well done Miss Granger, 10 points to Gryffindor. Now you may have noticed that I have a phial here containing transparent liquid. This liquid is, in fact, the Felix Felicis and I am offering to give this to the student who stews the best potion. The method and the ingredients will be on page 378. You may begin." Professor Slughorn announced suddenly. There was sounds of turning pages and stomping feet as everyone hurried to get what was needed. Honestly, it's not a competition about how could stew the fastest.

Hermione was confident that she would do good. She collected her ingredients and went back to the table where Harry looked utterly confused.

"What's wrong Harry," She asked

"Oh - uh can I see your book for a minute?" He replied without answering her question. She tentatively passed her book. After a minute he handed it back.

"Thanks" A mix of different emotions were plastered on his face, which Hermione couldn't guess. She went back to doing her own work.

Add Ashwinder Egg to a cauldron, then add horseradish and heat.

Juice a Squill bulb, add to the cauldron and stir vigorously.

Chop up anemone-like growth on the back of Murtlap , add to mixture and heat.

Add a dash of tincture of thyme and stir slowly.

Grind up Occamy eggshell and add to mixture.

Stir slowly then heat the cauldron.

Add a sprinkle of powdered common rue.

Stir vigorously then heat the cauldron one last time.

Wave wand over potion in a figure of eight and say incantation Felixempra.

She calmly followed her recipe, however, started to lose her patience when her potion turned a disgusting green instead of the molten gold colour. She looked over at Harry's one which was perfect.

"The recipe clearly says to chop the Murtlap, not squish it" She sounded frustrated

"Oh really, you should read it properly" He smiled.
