What would you do? A bully, expressing his feelings, with that look of pure honesty. Would you trust them?

"I know your there Granger." His voice shook as he wiped the tears from his face. "I'm surprised you came, probably to hex me of course." He chuckled bitterly. "I'm not going to ask you to take that cloak off, just to make sure you don't get any wrong thoughts."

Hermione stayed quiet, however, the wisps of white smoke from her mouth gave her position away.

"Go on, ask me. I said I would explain didn't I?" His eyes wandered off to the distance, full of thoughts.

She shivered. Everything was going too fast. She gulped down her fear as she slowly whispered her words out.

"Why- Why me?"

She mentally kicked herself. Out of all the questions, she could ask, she asked this. Sometimes she questioned her intelligence.

"You intrigue me, Granger. You are persistent. You are a fighter. You're -" He stopped himself. "Next question"

"You understand that I am a Mudblood right? That you have continuously hurt my feelings throughout my whole past Hogwarts years and now you say that I intrigue you? Do you know how pathetic this sounds?"

"Yes." He simply answered

Hermione was lost for words. How does she reply to that?

"What's in that rose?" She asked remembering the unusually hard object.

"You will find out.... soon enough," Hermione swore she saw the corner of his lip twitch.

This was incredibly hard. She had spent sleepless nights and restless days with her questions constantly bugging her mind and now they all just disappeared.

Finally, she got the courage to speak.

"I don't trust you. Why should I trust you?"

"You shouldn't, and I don't expect you to. However, I do have one question. Why did you come to the tower at midnight if you don't trust me?"
