It was about 8 o'clock at night when Ashton finally plopped onto his couch after a long day of setting things up for his new home. Ashton decided a move was necessary because he needed a new life, new reputation, and a fresh start. Hopefully, now, he finally could.
The neighbourhood was a beautiful place where families bloom. Everything except the house at the end of the street was in perfect condition.
The neighbours had warned him about the house that was both gloomy and foreboding. They said that a few years after the building of the home in the early to mid-1800s, the Hemmings family suddenly disappeared. Nobody knew what happened to the family for sure, but apparently about a decade after their disappearance, the house has been riddled with screams.
Nobody dared to go near the house because, as legend has it, anyone who steps onto the property doesn't live to see the next day.
Ashton was very curious about the home because it had so much potential; it justed needed a little love. Going against his neighbours' warnings, he decides to grab his coat, put his combat boots on, and take a stroll by the house.
He locks the door behind him as the harsh wind cut right through his clothes. His hair, that was tied with a blue bandana, was trying to escape the cold. Ashton slowly walks down the ever darkening street as he watches the house with curious eyes.
When Ashton finally reaches the front of the property; he looks up towards the house hesitantly. He saw some of the broken windows that were boarded up with plywood and the faded red front door was littered with a dozen locks; assumingly to keep snooping teenagers out.
Ashton was looking over the house when he saw a flash of what looked to be blonde hair and one of the curtains on the third-floor close. This surprised Ashton because he was told nobody lived there; maybe it was just a squatter.
The more Ashton looked at the house, the more he could feel his heart rate pick up and a sweat form on his forehead; despite the harsh wind.
Suddenly the house seemed to look extremely dark and huge red flags went up in Ashton's mind; he had to get out of there fast.
But he couldn't move; his legs were seemingly cemented in place. His heart was beating faster and faster, but Ashton knew it was too late.
Out of nowhere, he felt a large mass hit his body, causing him to fall and hit his head on the cement sidewalk below.
Causing everything to go black.
***Time Skip***
Ashton awoke alone in the dark. He didn't know where he was, but a feeling in the pit of his stomach makes him believe he was in the old house that once belonged to the Hemmings.
Ashton tries looking around, but he couldn't see much around him. There was an awful smell that seemed to be of a musty and metallic nature. He could also feel something cold on all sides of his body, so he assumed he was in the basement of the old house. Ashton hears the dripping of what he assumes is water onto the floor, presumably from the ceiling above.
The curly haired lad tries to stand up and look around, but something was holding him down. He lifts his right arm only to feel the tug of chains. A sinking feeling grew in the boy's stomach as the seconds ticked by.
All Ashton wanted was a new start, but instead, he got kidnapped by some lunatic.
As the seconds stretch into minutes, Ashton desperately tries to free his hand from the shackle and chain that held him to the cold and dingy floor, but he knew it was no use.
Just as Ashton gave up, there were two metal clangs, probably made by a large metal door opening and then closing. No footsteps followed the closing of the door, so Ashton thought he was safe for now, but all of a sudden a bright light lit up the room, causing Ashton to hold his arm up in front of his face as best he could.
As Ashton's eyes slowly adjusted, he noticed a shorter male figure standing in the doorway of the room he was imprisoned in, holding a fire lit lantern; the smell of kerosene was strong in the now thick air. The figure was as still as a statue and was dressed as if they just walked out of a history textbook. The man wore what looked to be clothing from the time of the American Civil War; from the bow tie and top hat, all the way to the long coat and walking stick.
Ashton knew it was no use but had to beg for the man to let him go. "Please, don't do this. If you let me go I won't tell anyone about this and I'll go back home and never bother you again, just please let me go," Ashton says as he feels warm tears flow down his dirty cheeks.
The figure doesn't say anything. Instead, he gracefully hangs the lantern up on a hook hanging off one of the rafters and is kneeling in front of the chained boy in a matter of a second. Ashton flinches away from the man as he reaches a long and dirty finger out to scratch his cheek with an untrimmed fingernail. The man's finger then went towards his lips that quivered as Ashton felt something warm slide past his lips.
Ashton let's out a whimper and desperately tries to get away from the cold man that, along with the basement, has a strong metallic smell. "Please don't do this," Ashton pleads quietly.
"I am very sorry," the man says in an elegant voice that can only be described as velvet. "I want not to do this, but I must do so to survive."
"S-survive?" Ashton shudders as the man's rancid breath washes over his face.
"Yes, survive," he says before sinking his razor sharp teeth into Ashton's neck.
After the initial pinch, Ashton felt the strange sensation of his blood being pulled from his body, which was then replaced with a strange pleasurable feeling.
"Sleep well, Ashton," was the last thing Ashton heard before losing consciousness for what the man presumed to be forever.
A/N: HEY GUYS!
Tell me what you think! I have a book for one-shots, but the contest I had entered this said not to put it in a collection, so I had to make a separate book for this! (Besides the fact that I might want to continue this; making it into a short story)
Because I didn't get acknowledged for the contest, I've come back and added a few details, made a few revisions so hopefully, it would flow better with how I want to continue on with this!
Thanks for reading and please vote, comment, follow me, and share this with your friends!
Write you later,
~Ashtyn xoxo

✔️House At the End of the Street - L.H. + A.I. One-Shot✔️
Fiksi PenggemarEveryone in the neighbourhood knew to stay away from the dilapidated house at the end of the street; people heard the screams of those who would step on the property, but all knew nobody would come back out. Well, everyone except Ashton, of course.
