The Before

Mom was dropping Casey and Scarlet off at school. Casey, a senior, and Scarlet, a junior, sat in the car quietly.

"Casey sense Jason is bringing your car to school, I expect you give him and your sister a ride home. Got it?" mom told Casey. Casey nodded and rolled his eyes. Scarlet walked in by herself because Casey found one of his snobby friend of the popular group. "Hey." Scarlet said sitting down next to her best friend, Amy. Amy didn't reply. "What's wrong?" Scarlet asks her sad friend in surprise. "It's his anniversary isn't it?" Scarlet suggest. Amy nodded. It was the anniversary of her dad's death. He died last year. Scarlet hugged her sad friend and the bell rang.

Scarlet walked into algebra and sat down next to her other best friend, Kailee. Scarlet, Kailee, and Amy were all best friends since 1st grade.

"Did you talk to Amy?" Kailee asks. Scarlet nodded when their teacher walked in.

Before Scarlet even realized it, she was in her brothers truck, with his annoying loud friend.

"Did you hear about Shane's party? I hear he always throws the best." Wesley said. "Sh!" Casey said and flicked his head back at Scarlet. He didn't want her to know. "It's pretty obvious your going to a party to drink when your under age." Scarlet said leaning forward. "No I'm not!" Casey protests. "Oh wow I think your as stupid as your buddy." Scarlet jokes pointing to Wesley. "Shut up. You can't tell mom." he says. "Oh and what's in it for me?" Scarlet fires back. "I'll think about it." And with that it was a silent drive home on that Friday after noon.

Scarlet was upstairs in her room working on a mash up with songs and their videos. It was about 11:30 and Scarlet fell asleep, then she heard a big crash! in her room. She quickly looks up from her desk and there's a broken window. There was a rock lying on the floor with a note attached to it. Then she heard a car drive away. Scarlet became scared sense she was home alone because her dad had worked a midnight shift but left early. She quickly picked up the rock, and untied the string that was holding a little note. She quickly unfolded it and read:

Dear Scarlet,

I love you so much. You and Kailee are my soul sisters and I will never forget you. I've made my decision and I'm ready to be with my dad. I wanted to let you know so you wouldn't find out the hard way. Please tell Kailee that I love her and try to explain to my mom, Bobby, and Chelsea why I am doing this. I just can't live with myself anymore. My father was the only one who would pay attention to me and call me pretty everyday. Don't try to stop me, it will be too late. I love you Scarlet and don't ever hurt yourself like I am. I'm sorry.
