CHAPTER 2

Recap:
'This is my chance to have a friend and I'm crying!! Really!?'

"Hey. What's wrong? are you okay?

"Yeah. I'm fine. It's j-just that everyone looks at me like I'm bug. I also haven't had a friend in what seems like forever..." I said just above a whisper so he wouldn't hear my voice crack.

'He doesn't want to hear about my problems. I might as well just forget about it...'

I looked into his eyes and I saw something I hadn't seen in a while.

Care.

That is what I saw.

"You don't need to cry. I know how you feel. I am a monster who everyone wants dead..."

My chest felt like it had been crushed by his voice. It was like an angel but it held sorrow in it. But what he said made me feel upset.

"Don't say that!! Not everyone wants you dead! I don't so that has to count for something Gaara!! And your siblings don't want you dead either! I can see it in their eyes. Behind the slight fear, it's there..." (She saw him and his siblings walking around Suna once so that is how she knows about them)

I just hoped that what I was telling him was true.

"Now. What is your answer. Do you wanna be friends or not." I say wiping the last of the tears out of my eyes.

Gaara's POV

Did Kira just ask me that? I didn't think that someone would ever say that to me! I have to say yes. This could be one chance to have a real friend!!

"I will be your friend but on one condition." I told her looking her dead in the eyes.

"Anything."

"You have to promise we will be with each other and never turn our backs on each other no matter what."

"Of course. I will always be right there with you. I will never turn on you."

With that, Kira had become my first real friend.

'Let just hope it lasts...'
