Serena's POV:
What the hell? I couldn't wipe the smooth grin off of my face as I walked inside. I was glad that my father wasn't awake, he would've thought I was on drugs or something.
I glanced at the clock in the kitchen, 12:23? It felt like I had just woken up from a peaceful nap, but I was still tired. I tiptoed to my room, trying to get the image of Alex's plump lips out of my mind while changing and eventually falling asleep.
***********
I woke up late Saturday morning, my alarm clock reading 9:42. I got up, and walked to the kitchen in my pajamas. My dad was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. He looked up as I walked in.
"Morning, how was that party last night?"
"Oh, it was pretty good,"
"Did you drink?"
"No"
"Were there a lot of people there?"
"Decent amount. Do you have anything planned for today?" I asked, desperately hoping for a subject change.
"I might run down to the hardware store to get some basics. What about you?"
"Is it okay if I sleepover at a friends house tonight?" I asked, forgetting that I had woken up to texts from Carissa, asking me about it.
"As long as that friend is a girl, than yes,"
I laughed before grabbing a bottle of water and heading back to my room.
I read most of the day, regularly checking social media for updates on anything. I scrolled through pictures on Instagram for what felt like hours. My dad had ordered a pizza for lunch, so I grabbed two slices of pepperoni and ate it in my room.
After lunch, I started packing a bag for Carissa's sleepover. I didn't know exactly what to bring. I packed a pair of pajama pants, and a pair of clothes for tomorrow. I brought a couple of nail polish colors, plus chargers for my phone. I texted Carissa around 2 o'clock.
Me: hey I'm heading over in a little while, should I bring anything speical?
Carissa: um, not that I can think of
Me: alright, I'll see you in a little bit
Carissa: okay. I can't wait! See youu
I smiled at her response before shoving my phone in my pocket. I walked into the living room, where my dad was watching some old country movie.
"Dad, I'm leaving!" I yelled from the front door.
"Alright, be safe!" He yelled back.
The drive wasn't long, but Carissa's house was gorgeous. I rang the doorbell and her mom answered. Her mom looked young, but she was really pretty, and she had a big smile on her face.
"The girls are upstairs. First room on the left"
I walked up the long staircase, and into Carissa's room, which was really pink. It was cute though, and it really showed her personality.. Sitting on Carissa's king size bed was Hannah, one of the girls that sat at our table at lunch. She was scrolling through something on her blue iPhone 5c, her hair back in a ponytail. Carissa was standing on the other side of the room, adjusting the volume of a stereo that was mounted on the wall.
"Oh, hey Serena! Emily couldn't make it, so it looks like it's just the three of us," Carissa squeaked, running over and greeting me with a hug. I dropped my bag in the corner, and sat on the bed next to Hannah. She wasn't on Instagram anymore. What app was that? It looked familiar.
