Alex's POV:
The last thing I'd expected to do on my Saturday night was walk downstairs to get Cheez-E Puffs and run into Serena. I mean, literally, I ran into her and knocked her on the ground. So we both just kind of fell on the floor, right outside my sister's door. I think Serena was in shock for a second, because she just kind of sat there and looked at me.
"Are you okay?" I asked, after am awkward couple seconds of eye contact.
"What are you doing here?" She asked me, and I let out a laugh.
"No, what are you doing here? I'm the one that lives here," I answered, and something in her mind lit up, and she looked at me, her mouth open in surprise.
"I.. Um, your sister invited me here,"
"I know. Are you sure you're okay?" I asked again, noticing that we were still sitting in the same spot on the ground, my arm still wrapped around her back, a gesture that I made to try to catch her as she fell.
"Yeah," she shifted, sitting up a little bit more, but still not standing. A pink tinted brightness flooded into the hallway, when Carissa opened her bedroom door. I realized how dark it was in the hallway before that, and Carissa's open-mouthed expression proved that she thought the same thing.
"Alex, must you hit on my new friends?" She asked, with a spy smirk on her face.
If only I could tell her, No Carissa, I've been attracted to this girl since her first day at school. I stood up, putting my arms up in the air, like Carissa was arresting me for touching her pretty friend.
I continued back down the hallway, my craving for Cheez-E Puffs disappearing almost instantly. I sat on my gaming chair, and started at the wall for minutes, replaying what happened in my mind over and and over. Maybe it's not so bad when Carissa has her friends over.
Serena's POV:
I closed Serena's door behind me, and Carissa looked over to me with an unidentifiable expression on her face.
"Serena! What the hell is up with you and my brother??" Carissa asked.
"Nothing, he just ran into me in the hall, and we both fell on the ground, it was nothing,"
"I saw you guys, there was no way that it was only that," she added, obviously pretty good at detecting my lie.
"Carissa, if Serena wants to get all up in your brother, let her," Hannah added from across the room, earning laughs from all three of us.
"I was NOT getting all up in Alex. We just kissed," I let out, totally forgetting that I probably shouldn't have brought up our kiss from after the party on Friday night.
"WHAT?" Hannah and Carissa asked rather loudly, but at the same time.
"When did you kiss him?" Carissa asked.
"Friday night, he dropped me off at my house after a party," I stated, almost embarrassed of how slutty I sounded. This kind of stuff never would've happened in Florida.
"Oh my god, Serena! You guys would be so cute together!" Carissa added, which confused me. I honestly thought she would be mad if she knew, I didn't want her to think that the only reason I hang out with her is because I like her brother. She didn't seem mad, she seemed excited.
"I guess," I answered awkwardly, before suggesting that we go and watch another movie in the basement.
Hannah had suggested that we watched Endless Love, and every time that they kissed or made any sexual reference, Carissa or Hannah would elbow me and whisper, "That's you and Alex," I thought that it was nice how they made me feel more comfortable about the whole thing. When the movie was over, we went back upstairs.
Before we went to sleep, Hannah asked me if I would ever date Alex. They kept asking questions, especially Carissa, but I couldn't blame her. From what she said, Alex had never had a serious relationship before, all the girls he had dated had been sluts who lost their virginity in 7th grade.
I didn't know exactly what I wanted, I knew that I liked Alex, a lot, and I couldn't stop thinking about him. It was hard to fall asleep that night, knowing that the boy of my dreams was down the hall, in his bed sleeping.
It was around 1 in the morning when I was finally able to fall asleep.
It was dark, the only light I could see was coming from a dim light bulb in the distance. I was sitting on a metal chair, handcuffs around my wrists, and my feet were tied. The skin around my mouth ached, like someone had just yanked duct tape off of my mouth. I was scared, until I saw a tall, shaggy-haired brunette boy, that I recognized as Alex. He was running up to me, until the guards grabbed him too. They hit him in the face, several times, blood splattering against the floor. My silent screams and cries filled the dark room, until Alex sat motionless on his chair, his face almost unrecognizable, due to so much blood.
I opened my eyes, tears staining my pillow case. The clock on my iPhone said 2:03, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to sleep. I couldn't even blink, the image of Alex's bloody face taking over my thoughts. I glanced at the two other girls, glad that they were in a deep slumber.
I ran my fingers through my hair, before standing up and opening Carissa's door slowly, trying desperately to be as quiet as possible. I walked down the hall, slowly, with light steps. I walked to the door at the end of the hall, the only one that was cracked open. I looked through the crack and saw Alex, lying in his bed, safe and sound. Maybe what I did next wasn't a good idea, but I wasn't thinking straight anyway.
I walked into the room, quietly closing the door behind me. Alex had a really big bed, definetly enough room for the both of us. I moved the blanket, laying down next to him in his warm bed. I used every muscle in my body not to move closer to him and rest my head on his chest, but I ended up doing it anyway.
After a couple minutes I felt him shift in his sleep, before putting his arm around me and pulling me closer into his chest. He rest his head on top of mine, and that's how I fell asleep, in the arms of the boy that I wasn't sure if I felt something for or not.
Because it was in that moment, that millisecond, at 2:19 in the morning, laying in bed with the most perfect boy I had ever met, when I realized what I felt. I felt passion, and something very similar to premature love for Alex, and he was special, I just hoped he felt the same for me.
