This is it. I can do it. I have been waiting for this moment my whole life. To finally escape the madness that captivated me this whole time. I can finally let go of the past and enter myself into a new world. A new life.It was Autumn, the time where the leaves start to fall and the animals begin to prepare for Winter. This season is a season I will never forget. It is that one that I began a fresh start in my lifetime.
I got out of the black car that had taken me on this journey all the way from New Jersey. I walked up the front steps toward the new home I had been yearning to live in for the past seven years. I finally was able to escape the government's insane laws and was able to finally be what I am. A diviner.
The steps were cold and my sneakers clicked against the stones that lead up towards to doors that would let me escape from everything.
I trotted up the front steps and opened the tall pale French doors. There were diviners with their wings spread open flying around the main hall.
I stepped into the corridor as someone dropped their textbooks on the floor. I then gathered them for the person. They smiled at me and nodded in thanks. I then walked away, following the directions on the map towards the lobby.
My sneakers squeaked against the tiles as I sat down at the desk. I opened my mouth to speak but the secretary beat me too it.
"Oh, you're the new student here! Welcome! I'm Mrs. Hazel. We should start with your registration form. What is your name?"
She was very enthusiastic. Personally though, I thought it was a bit much. I guess it's what she has to do to be able to cheer up new students living at the manor. Probably because they want it too welcoming enough for us too want to stay here. Or it might be to cheer us up because most students just ran away from the mainland to get here. That could be a traumatic experience.
"I'm Everly Hayes." I replied I wanted to seem as friendly as possible but I don't think that would work too well for me.
"Okay, and where did you live before arriving here?" She asked the question as if she was totally invested in me.
"New Jersey." I answered. I was already bored of this fill out form.
"Great. Now you can fill out the rest on this sheet." She handed me a long paper which seemed to have words covering the whole page.
Amazing. I'm going to have so much fun filling out this ridiculous form just to get into a place that lets me do magic. Ugh.
"Okay." I started on the first question. What magic do you specialize in?
Words engraved the page. I stated simply Wind Master.
Have you already mastered your skills?
I wrote down "No."
What weapon do you use? What is it's arc name?
These were way too many questions for a new student to handle. Why can't they just ask for are name and type? No, they have to go around making everything complicated.
I began to write down that I used a sword called Mace when a girl burst into the office.
"Mrs. Hazel! I hope you understand that someone last week had spilled the pots outside in the front and the custodian still hasn't cleaned it up. This is a safety hazard! Some unsuspecting person could get hurt! Hey, are you even listening!"
"Yes, yes, Ivy. The custodian was on a vacation and we could not find a replacement." Kindness came out of Mrs. Hazel's words but I could tell that she was really irritated.
Ivy sighed. "I believe you even know that what you said is an extremely bad excuse. But, if the custodian doesn't come back in one more week I want you to fire him."
Mrs. Hazel didn't reply and went back to her typing.
"Oh hey there." I suppose Ivy was looking for someone else to annoy.
"Um; Hello." I replied back. I have to start out with a friendly conversation to show I'm a good person I guess.
"Are you new to the Blissful Manor? I haven't met you before. And trust me, I've met everyone here."
"Mhm. I just got here and filled out my form. I haven't even been here for an hour." Exactly. I haven't been here for an hour and I already have and idiot bugging the crap out of me.
"Okay! I've been looking for a roommate since last week and I still can't find one. I've been living on my own for the past two years I've been here and I still don't have one. I have no idea why though... Anyways, do you want to be my roommate?"
Amazing. Just beautiful. Things are going great. Now, I'm stuck into those situations again. You know, the one where you just don't want to ruin the first impression on the first person you meet but you hate them so much you also want to turn them down. Yeah, that situation.
"Okay, sure." Oops. I guess there is no turning back now.
"YES! I finally found a roommate! Haha Get wrecked Vivian!" She was way too ecstatic over getting a roommate. It almost made me feel uncomfortable.
"Who is Vivian?" I asked.
"Great friend of mine. She thought that I wouldn't get a roommate ever. But here I am, with you! Come on, you should meet her."
Before I knew it I was being dragged down the hall by Ivy. And wow, this girl has a strong grip.
I was lead up to a room on the second floor of the building. The door stated "Room 399"
Ivy broke the silence that went between us since we left the main office. "Okay! This is the room she stays in. Right beside me."
She opened the door to a girl with pastel blond hair sitting on her bed, drinking green tea and writing down things beside a textbook.
"Hey Vivian!" Ivy exclaimed.
"Hello Ivy. Why are you in my room again?" Vivian explained. She had violet eyes that were way different than Ivy's deep green one's or my hazel eyes. Something you don't see everyday. In fact, she might be the first person I've met with violet eyes.
"I wanted to show you my new friend. Her name is Everly. And... She is also my new roommate!" Ivy explained. Also, it's nothing creepy. I did tell her my name while she dragged me over here. But, she was so desperate for a roommate that she asked me without even knowing my name. How did I get myself into this? I just wanted to use my divine magic.
Vivian looked like she was about to spit out her tea. She tried to hide it but I could tell that she was.
"S-so that means that..." Vivian looked extremely terrified.
"Yep! That means that you have to be roommates with me now. We're all going to be great friends!" Ivy is overjoyed, while Vivian looked like she was going to barf.
"Are you sure you guys are good friends?" I whispered to Ivy quickly.
"Not good friends. We're best friends!" She replied way too loud. Oh great, annoying, way to optimistic and one of those people who don't get the memo when you whisper to them. I regret everything.
Vivian sighed as she knew what I asked before-hand. "Okay I will pack then and move next door but first we need to report to the office about my room change."
We all walked down the hallway towards the elevator. Sneakers, boots and flats side by side down the hall.
I had friends here now. Just on my first day. Only one of them was normal but I still had friends. And I liked them. For the most part.
A/N: Woah this a very long chapter... 1333 words? I've never done something like this before. Anyways... This was going to be the prologue but I realized that this segment shows enough detail about the background of the story to be the first chapter. So I entirely skipped the prologue. Even if this is a fantasy story and they usually have a prologue to show what quest that they are going to go on I wanted to do something different with this story. I'm not going to give away the quest at the beginning. You'll just have to read to find out. >;))
