Noah smiled at his mother as she walked out of the large house that towered in front of him. His bedroom was on the third floor, and he wouldn't want it any other way. He loved to jump out the window and glide down on an energy slide for fun and let his mom do the same. They were closer than ever. His mom had brought out some cookies for him to snack on while he soaked in the energy from the sun beating down on his face.

He grabbed a cookie and took a bite, it was flavorless but he enjoyed the feel of it. His mother smiled at him and he couldn't help but chuckle for no reason. His mom did the same and they laughed together.

Noah's father came out of the house next, a smile on his face. He had black hair, like Noah's, and a beard that made him look like a lumberjack. His white tooth smile glimmered through his black facial hair. He walked over to Noah and gave him a firm hug and a pat on the back.

Noah floated up on an energy platform and laughed. The neighborhood was a good one. Large houses and green lawns as far as he could see. Next door, Sam saw him through her second floor window and waved to him.

He looked down at his mother and waved goodbye as he floated over to Sam's window. He got to the windowsill and rested his arms and head on it. Sam rested her head so that their faces were inches apart. "Good morning." She said with a smile.

"Good morning." Noah said back. Sam leaned in and kissed him. It was one of those long kisses that Noah wished would never end. The moment dragged on for so long that he felt like his wish would come true. But sure enough, Sam pulled back and smiled at him. "I love you." He stated as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

"I love you too." She poked him in the nose and chuckled.

"Hey bud!" Noah turned around and saw Wade standing beside his mom and dad, waving. "You gonna come say hi or should I just go home?"

Noah smiled and began to float down. The distance didn't seem long, but it began to stretch. By the time Noah had gone half way he seemed to not even be moving anymore. He tried to move, to get to his friend and family but he couldn't.

His smile faded, but everyone around him continued as if nothing was happening. He turned around just in time to see Sam blow him a kiss and then his vision was replaced by darkness.

...

Noah woke up to Sam pushing his shoulder. "Hey," she was saying. "It's time to move, we don't want to stay much longer."

"Oh," Noah sat up quickly, dots filling his vision as he regretted it. "I'm up." He turned to David who was already standing up beside him. "Thanks for that."

David nodded. "No problem." He walked away as Sam looked down at Noah curiously.

"You don't even need sleep, why would you even want to? What were you dreaming about?"

Noah didn't look at her but knew she expected some kind of explanation. "Um...I was dreaming that I was a smart ass mercenary."

She obviously didn't believe him, but she accepted it. "Ok then, smart ass, get up and get in the car. We don't have much farther to go before we can stop for a couple days."

After their long time talking, Noah and Sam had agreed that there was way to much going on to be anything really between them. It was all Sam's idea, Noah had just gone along with it because she was. He couldn't tell her any of these things that he thought about or it would be weird between them.

But every time he had a dream like that, with Sam kissing him and them saying they loved each other, he was forced to think back to something that had happened a couple months before then. He had lost all of his memories, he had no idea who he was or what was going on. Some moron called 'the master' had taken all he knew from him and told him that he wanted to kill Sam. The worst part was, Noah had believed him. Sam gave him what memories she had that he could use, but it wasn't a lot. He still didn't know very much about himself.
