Noah's team surrounded Will and Andrew. The last time Noah had seen these two, he had left them to fight off the master's best men, but he had left them with two more controllers.
"Where are Richie and Steven?" Noah demanded.
Will looked at his feet and muttered. "Dead."
"What?"
"Dead!" Will looked up in anger but quickly calmed down. "They didn't make it past the master's men. Andrew and I barely made it out. We're enemies of the controllers now, just like you. We need your help."
"But you're enemies of ours as well" Emma pointed out.
"I know, but we don't have anywhere else to go. The master...he has an army. A couple hundred newly trained controllers ready to track down you guys and kill you all. And...he wants Andrew and I dead as well."
"Why would we..." Sam put a hand gently on Noah's chest and he shrank back.
She held a hand out towards Will and shut her eyes. She saw Will hiding among trees in a forest, looking down at the master walking into tunnel under a tree. She watched as Will walked silently around the tree and caused the roots to dig him a tunnel where nobody would find it. He stealthily moved through the tunnels until it opened up in front of him. Sam opened her eyes as she saw the sight Will had witnessed only a week before.
"He's not lying. The master..."
"What is it?" Noah asked, moving so he was in front of Sam. "What did you see?"
"The master...he has an army...there's hundreds...all training...all skilled...Noah, you won't be able to defeat them. There's to many."
"Then we run, we don't have to fight them."
"But we do. Noah, what about the prophecy?"
"The what?"
Sam sighed and placed a finger on his forehead. Noah's vision changed. he saw himself floating in a destroyed city, lightning leaping from his body and his eyes. Then the scene changed to him dead in the streets with controllers all around him.
"Oh, that prophecy. Well, then we defeat them."
"But you saw what happens if we 'win'."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying...you didn't see any of us in that vision. Just yourself with everyone dead around you in a burned city. You saw what you become if we defeat the master's army..."
"What do you mean?" Everyone was staring at the two, not knowing who made the better point.
"I think we lose either way. Either we all go missing, or die, or you die. We can't win this one."
Noah turned away from her, lowering his eyes to the ground. Silence hung in the air as they all stared at their usual comedic leader. But their normal leader seemed to be gone for the moment, replaced with a more serious man in his place, only to return a second later. "Well if we can't win either way then we mine as well give them hell and drag them down with us."
"So...we're going towards the people that want to kill us?" Will looked confused.
"Yup." Noah had a layer of cheer for everyone to be distracted with, but Sam could see that he was worried. "Look at it this way. If we defeat the master's new army, we can go home. We won't need to stay in hiding. Hell, if we can kill the master while we're at it that would be great. But by defeating such an unstoppable force, we'll show that we're the most powerful group the world has ever seen, and why would the most powerful group the world has ever seen need to go into hiding?"
